Hello all,

So I'm recovering from my crash that happened a few weeks ago and I started to repair my bike. The last thing I want to do tomorrow is change the oil and the oil/air filters.

In regards to air filter I bought a OEM kwaka filter. My question is.......

Do I need to soak my new filter in engine air before I install it or something like that?

Thanks all.

If the foam filter is dry, then yes you can use motor oil for it (cheap) or get some foam filter oil of your choice at the parts store.

Thanks for that. Should it be soaked through with engine oil?

It should not be soaked, but lightly coated. Too much oil can cause airflow problems, with some exess oil draining into the airbox or being pulled into the carbs.

An easy way to oil the filter is; place the OEM filter in to a zip lock bag along with couple of tablespoons of engine oil and work the oil into the filter until the filter is completely and evenly oiled. Reinstall the frame back onto the filter.
