I need a new battery since mine is on its last legs and won't charge past 80%. I found it on amazon and the official site.

Is there any reason or difference why the prices are so different? Should I just buy the one off amazon for cheaper?

amazon historically has low prices on a lot of merchandise so I'd go with the amazon. On top of that I usually use amazon to price check a lot of things when I buy them and the price is usually the same or lower on amazon. Going with amazon's good track record for reasonable shipping times and only sending out quality products (in my experience, I use amazon a lot for online shopping) I'd buy from amazon.com

the most likely reason for the price difference is that the smaller site is just trying to get a bigger return on investment due to not having as many other forms of revenue.

Right on, I use amazon pretty frequently myself. I'm a prime member. Just didn't know if there was something wrong with the amazon batteries haha.

Ironically, after I posted this, my battery tender started flashing green and then solid green. So my battery charged all the way up, but it took 2 1/2 days. Way longer than usual. Figure might as well replace it anyway.

battery tenders tend to charge batteries very slowly, when I use mine after a week of not riding it tends to not finish for at least 24 hours (haven't needed to use it with my 300 yet)

if you have the spare money there isn't much reason not to get another battery, then you have a spare in case anything electrical goes horribly wrong (not that likely unless you start installing extras but still useful)

I don't think those are the same batteries. YTX9 and YTX9BS are two different sizes. The part numbers are also different. That said, I tend to order just about everything I can through Amazon to get the Prime shipping, and ease of return/refund if I ever do have a problem with an order.

I just checked it on amazon with it's garage feature by adding a newgen 250 to my garage. amazon's site says it fits the newgen.

I'd use Yuasa's site for fitment confirmation rather than Amazon's. Doing that, the YTX9-BS seems to be the right fit. Here's a link on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Yuasa-YUAM729BS-YTX9-Battery/dp/B0055DN26G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1390522399&sr=8-1&keywords=YUAM729BS) for the identical battery. $68 and free shipping instead of $84 + shipping on Yuasa's site.

(P.S. if you do buy it, do me a favor and click to Amazon from the link on this site. I'll lower your user fees for the month from $0 to $0.) :)

Considering that Yuasa makes the batter that's the way to go  I didn't think of that.

does this make a difference on the site hosting side at all?

Yes - any outbound link to a very large number of online retailers returns a small (very small) percentage of the sale back to this site. There's a link in my sig to a list of common retailers. It's not going to let me move to the islands and have natives feed me grapes while I tan, but it does generally cover the hosting and related costs.

Good to know, I'll start doing that when I can from here on out.

If you have an Advance Auto nearby, you can get a US-made AGM battery for under $54. The ETX9 (http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_12-volt-sealed-agm-premium-powersport-battery-120-cca-magnapower_16940009-p) (cross references (http://www.dekacatalog.com/) to the YTX9-BS) is $83.49 and coupon code (http://www.retailmenot.com/view/advanceautoparts.com?c=4871858) TRT37 takes $30 off, and you don't have to wait for shipping if you're the impatient type. AGM means you don't have to bother with checking the level and it won't drip acid all over your bike.

I used a similar deal to get an ETX15L for ~$45 to go in my VN700 in August 2010. It sat in the bike for a while when it was down, then sat on the cold garage floor for a few months. It's now in my EX500 and still working great.
