I was reading the thread "Whats for dinner....." and the subject of eating cats and dogs came up so I decided to write this thread on the different / strange foods people here have ate.

Living in Louisiana I have had a chance to eat crawfish and aligator tail.

I have also ate menudo and cows tongue.

Caviar, frog legs, rattlesnake, aligator, some various things in Europe that I didn't ask what they were. Sometimes honesty is not the best policy...

Caviar was nasty though. It's like pouring salt on your tongue until it burns. Gross-ness.

Good caviar is good. I like gator tail. I like crawfish. I like escargot. Being from the south, I have had things like hog jowls and souse meat. I'll try about anything except organs. No brains or guts for me thanks.

Oh ya!! escargot. I love that stuff. Our church has an annual crawfish broil. The pastor and a couple of members fly down to Louisiana on their planes and come back with a few hundred pounds of crawfish. Hogs jowl is good. I've been on a pepperoncini kick lately. Eat those puppies right out of the jar.

You can do that with jalapenos too... if you find the right ones. Some are too hot, but sometimes they're just sweet and spicy.

A hot pepperoncini, isn't. A hot jalapeno will make one cry like a baby. I used to eat habaneros. Yum.

Nutella is the best, seriously I could just get a spoon and eat it out of the jar, screw the bread.

Nutella ice cream. I use it as a bribe all the time. You'd be amazed what people will do for homemade Nutella ice cream.

simple version:
bread
banana slices
butter
nutella

butter outside, nutella inside, banana slices in the middle, bread on top and bottom, put it in the sandwich press.

slightly advanced version:
bread
Nutella
bananas
orange marmalade
1 egg
milk
cinnamon
honey
vanilla
powdered sugar
butter
Grand Marnier

Make batter with eggs, milk, cinnamon, vanilla, honey, and grand marnier.
Bread: outside butter, inside Nutella, banana slices in the middle of two slices of bread.
Dip the "sandwich" in the batter.
Sandwich press
Top it with orange marmalade(or something else) and powdered sugar.

You're welcome...

went to Korea, didn't think it was a full experience without some Dog (dipped in salt). It is very expensive might I add.

Quail, Alligator, and some roasted larvae of some sort.

Do I win?

Why is it that some exotic foods taste like chicken?

sm0kediver
April 7th, 2009, 09:18 AM
I think people just say that trying to convince people that it's good. I've heard that turtle is like chicken. It's not even similar (turtle is awful). They say rattlesnake is like chicken. It's not! I suspect that cat might be like chicken though...
