I sure hope so. My bf bought the Intuitives from New Enough for my baby and they should be coming in Friday. *crossing my fingers* that it's a painless procedure in all accounts!

IIRC there are really only 2 sliders for the 250. Intuitive and Shogun. While most people seem to like the shogun better, they're quite a bit more expensive. but from what I've read everyone still agrees that the 250 sliders are kinda flimsy and mostly useful for standstill drops not at speed.

From what I've heard about the two brands- the intuitives are a major PITA to line up properly and get the fairings on. Its such a pain that I've even heard of people giving up on them altogether.
I haven't ordered a pair of sliders yet and this seems like a solid deal, but I may just wind up waiting to get the shoguns. I know there was a thread about the intuitives floating around, but if anyone can share some firsthand experience with the install that would be great!

Same here, heard from many people Intuitive Sliders are hard to put on. As for sliders for the 250R, theres also 'R&G'. R&G are meant to be the only sliders for the 250R to reduce insurance or something like that.

aren't R&G the ones that don't fit the carbed version bikes?

Newenough is solid. I was more concerned with the actual Intuitive slider install and whether it is as big of a PITA as people have been saying.

Wouldn't have a clue mate, saw a DIY done by 'Gregular' I think, and assumed that it would fit all 250Rs. Guess not :(

Absolutely. I'm going to try to get them done Saturday since my bf will be working on replacing the chain on his track bike. Hopefully I can figure it out myself.

The Intuitive sliders are a 2 person job, and yeah they are a little bit of a pain but are manageable. Definitely need 2 people, makes the job easier. Also a bit tricky lining them up, need patiences. Good luck. :)

Tough call now. The intuitives are roughly half the price of the shoguns....

We'll see... if I can get these on, then trust that anyone with two hands can. I'm not the most mechanical/coordinated but I want (well, at least learn how) to do all of my own work!

Ken- using that method were you able to install them yourself, or is it a 2 man/woman job?

I did it "all by myself" and I did have the two main issues, the coolant hose and lining up the two sides.

From checking the DIY I knew what to do for the hose, except that I didn't tighten the clamp enough at first.

For lining them up, I kept fussing with the different placements, trying to guage where they should be. :banghead:
At some point it dawned on me, when I was looking through the bike to check the alignment, that I could use something passed through both holes to hold/guide/guage both sides.

Kawasaki should have put on sliders themself! Save many people the hassle of buying, and installing aftermarket ones :)

and then the price goes up another $200.

Thats not that much increase, Shoguns are like $150ish?

And I think its been said that spilling at high speeds with these on could do some major damage to the frame. And anyways supersports don't even come with these so I would have been VERY suprised if they came stock with our bike.and by not putting these on kawi makes more money after a spill by people buying fenders and such at outragious prices :( . Our bike shoulda came with a better tune and a better exhaust but that's a different arguement for a different day ;)

So if you put the frame sliders on our bikes would it even protect the fairings? our fairings seem to be cheap plastic like stuff

Yes. Speed matters though. There was a girl on kawi forums who spilled 3 or 4 times with the intuitives. The last time she was going pretty fast and they finally bent at the mounting bolts. Her fairings were in pretty good shape. I'll try to find the thread and post it later unless someone beats me to it.in no hurry.
The fairings are abs plastic.

Wheres the DIY for these here? I dont see one!

Jlin
April 25th, 2009, 04:23 PM
Yes it should protect the fairings but not so sure about the exhaust or turn signals haha. Our fairings are made from the same material as other fairings.

Got Ya Thanks Guys my boyfriend hit a pot hole at around 10-15mph cracked the fairings broke the turn signal(but that was a easy fix) and bend the handle bar on the right side so once i replace that i am buying some

April 25th, 2009, 06:58 PM
i was looking into the frame sliders and it indicated that the they would break (plastic part) if you drop your bike.

Jlin
April 25th, 2009, 08:08 PM
yea the plastic part is suppose to take most of the shock and crack and if u need new handle bars i got 2 cause i installed clip ons so if anyone wants i'll sell them for cheap =D they're only 3 days old haha.

I just installed mines. Had a lil bit of trouble lining them up, Part of it is barely touching the fairing what are your thoughts do you think the vibe is going to rub off the paint, i think so.....

seems to be fairly constant - I can't see it unless the sliders are off - and since I'll need to replace the fairings at some point down the line anyway, it's no biggie I guess

i had intuitives on mine... had a ranting thread in the tech section

i hated them... they scratched my fairings and took forever to line up on my own.. AND they nearly went into the engine block from a very VERY slow tipover in my own living room (on hardwood floor). even with me holding some weight up as it fell, it bent the rod and the dog ears were completely off afterwards..

i ordered shoguns that same week and put them on this evening. SUPER sturdy, very well built and perfect fit with a few mm clearance on each side from the fairings. very happy with them. only have to trim the left sprocket cover but with a drummel tool its very quick and easy

Went down into a ditch on ride side of the bike. Took out my blinker and brake petal. Got some very little scratches on the fairings. Slider bent a very little, frame still intack.
