Hi all -

Wanted to invite folks on a Sunday ride up in Marin. The ride start is at the Big Rock Deli, 1500 Lucas Valley Rd, in Marin County about 2 miles west of the junction with US101. (Here's a link to the ride start on Google Maps (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=lucas+valley+and+mt.+lassen,+san+rafael,+ca&sll=38.025174,-122.568734&sspn=0.003102,0.006952&ie=UTF8&ll=38.02536,-122.568712&spn=0.012001,0.027809&t=h&z=16&iwloc=addr))

Meet time is a little before 8, and we'll get on the road just a few minutes past 8. The ride goes through all of those fun roads you've heard about (Lucas Valley, Nicasio, Hicks Valley, Chileno Valley, and much more), lasts about an hour, and we'll grab breakfast in Occidental just a little past 9. After breakfast, the ride back includes Coleman Valley, a large chunk of 1, and some more fun roads out near Dillon Beach. The standard route will have you back down Lucas Valley and at the 101 freeway around 11:30 - 11:45 AM. Pace is moderate to "moderate-plus", but no matter what your preferred speed there will be someone waiting at the next corner (as long as you've let me know that you don't know the route). Total mileage is about 55 miles prior to breakfast, about 70 miles after breakfast. Helps to come with a full tank, as there aren't a ton of gas stations en route (though there is one in Bodega Bay about 15 miles into the after-breakfast route). I usually get off 101N at the Freitas exit right before Lucas Valley Road to fill up prior to ride start; there are several gas stations right on the west side of 101 there.

Weather looks to be pretty reasonable this Sunday; mostly sunny and up into the high 60's, low 70's depending on who you ask. Might be just a little chilly before breakfast, but with the sun out it will be plenty warm afterwards.

Here are some pictures (http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=5448) from the same ride awhile back.

I am gonna try to make this one Alex. Probably gonna take a exploratory ride on Saturday just to get the route secure in my head to the meeting area.

Great! Hope you can make it. I enjoyed Ryan's write-up of last week's ride right here (http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=16893).

Cool I hope to see you guys on Sunday. I'll be the guy with the red 08 ninja 250r and the day glow orange Icon mil-spec backpack. :p Oh and I just got a GoPro Wide lens camera and mounting system so am gonna test it out on the ride. Hopefully it works as advertised. :D

That would be great news if you got the Go-Pro working! I've wanted to take some video of that ride, but have never gotten around to it...

I just came back from riding to the meeting place for tomorrow run. Sat down had burger and then drove back home. I was tempted to keep following Lucas Valley Rd. but I'll save that for tomorrow. I know how to get there fine and I know where to stop to get gas prior to the Lucas Valley Rd exit. The rest of the route you guys are going to be traveling is a mystery to me but it should be fun tomorrow. Helpfully I don't sleep through my alarm clock. :p

Fun ride! Dug joined us, as well as someone I'd ridden with before from SBR.

Quick group shot before we rolled out:

On the ride back, felt something crawling around near my ear. When I finally stopped and took my helmet off, saw that it was a bee in there! I'm lucky the little bastage didn't sting me. He wasn't so lucky though, when I raised my shield it actually crushed him between the shield and the helmet:

Dug took some Go-Pro video of the ride, and he also mounted the cam on my bike for the quick run through Valley Ford road; I'm looking forward to seeing them online soon.

Dug just let me know that the batteries on the GoPro weren't up to snuff, and he only got the first few minutes of his first section of the ride before they went out. Next time out he'll have some fully charged Lithium ones to use.
