So I was changing my wheel bearing for the first time today. As usual I didn't have the proper tools and decided to pound out the old bearings. Long story short I did this:

Will this be an issue as far as structural integrity? Seems like this could be a problem. Thanks in advance.

I can't see the notch as a problem. But with the bearings. hot and cold are your best tools. Put your new bearings in the freezer over night. And use a hair dryer or propane torch to gently warm the area you are planning to put the bearing in. The wheel is aluminum so don't even try to get it hot. Just warmer than usual. With frozen bearings and a warm rim the bearing will go in very easy. Get all the tools ready. Hammer and large socket. Or what ever you have so you can work fast.

That shouldn't be a problem. There is more than enough area for the bearing to seat into.

Ok, thanks guys. I really need to start project with the right tools instead of having to go buy them in the middle. Planning ahead is a good thing, I'm just not good at it. I hope this has taught me something.

how were you attempting to get them out?

As for the seating issue this should not be a problem. If I remember correctly, the other side of the front wheel has very little to seat the bearing against.
