I finally tore into the Ninja after getting the chassis setup by Fluid. I'm finding a few things that don't make too much sense to me, maybe you guys know!

1) There is a vent at the top of the valve cover that goes back to the airbox via a round vacuum mechanism. There is also a line that runs to the carbs from there, and one that goes to the gas tank petcock (which I assume is also vacuum activated)

How much of this is needed vs can be removed and plugged off?

2) Petcock seems to be driven from a vac line, and has no OFF position. (Fuel or Prime). In prime mode it just flows gas, in Fuel it does not. I assume it needs vac from engine to open fuel flow. Will it work in Prime position with that line blocked off? I'm actually not sure how it works all together since the line from the carb was routed through a T and one end is open, so not sure how there can be any vac in that line.

That's part of the KLEEN System. You can cap off those areas (including the one on the T) and be fine. The vacuum line that should come off the T goes to a valve (http://i640.photobucket.com/albums/uu124/zandit/P1010085800x600.jpg)

Thanks! I had a feeling it was KLEEN / PAIR system.

Any idea on vac line to the petcock?

A small vac line that comes off the T goes to the petcock.

So it's vac operated? Will it run with that line removed (maybe in Prime mode)?

Yes it's vacuum operated. The petcock will allow fuel to flow in the prime position without the vacuum line attached, however you do not want to leave it in the prime position other than to prime the carbs.

Good to know. There is a line that I blocked off on the carb (sort of between carbs, on the engine side) that should go to petcock, and I will bypass clean air system and block all that junk off.
