Our software here has an option for Redirection Pages. These show up between some other pages here on the site. Some examples are when you conduct a search, when you post a reply (not from the quick-reply box), and a few more. Here's what they look like:

The advantage of them is they give immediate feedback that what you've clicked has been properly accepted, and will be processed by the site. The disadvantage of them is that one second (ish) delay based on that other page. I removed them a few years ago because we were having server load issues with these additional pages. But now our server is so overbuilt, that it's really just a preference. I've turned them on for the moment. What say you?

Is it that dated? Other forums I use still have them. :idunno:

Given I am on my tablet/phone 99% of the time, I find them useful that I actually was able to tap on the link I meant to.

But that's just me.

Seeing if I can make it a user-chosen option.

Dislike. I usually surf the forums using the unread posts link. Don't like seeing the redirection screen every single time.

Ok the posting one is annoying too.

**** em. I've posted 2227 times. If that page takes 3 seconds each time, I've wasted 111.35 minutes of my life waiting for that to load. That's time I'll never get back :(

OK - it's now a user option. So if you like 'em, they are on by default. If you want to disable them, just go to your options page (https://www.ninjette.org/forums/profile.php?do=editoptions) all the way on the bottom and turn them off. Will put a link to there from the pages themselves as well.

I love how Alex lets us choose how we experience the site. It's like he asks, "Should I do this, or that?" and then listens to us, and goes, "Ok, those of you who want option A can have it, and those who want option B can do so by making a change in your settings now." :)

Actually, I just realized I usually use quick reply, so my awesome statistic above is pointless

OK - need to tweak it a bit; I was disabling things that will break some things in corner cases. It will come back on until I fix the template shortly.

Testing again.

Yet another fun test.

OK - it's working reasonably well. It basically is setting the timer to 0, so it still loads, but flashes past immediately. I am trying to understand where I can skip it completely, but there are evidently some functions related to login where it has to hit part of this code for reliability.

I cut mine off (or tried to) an it won't stop

OK - temporarily disabled for everyone at the moment. I want the user switch to be more clean, and it will take a little more research.
