SPEAKING at the Le Mans pre-event press conference, Valentino Rossi has shown interest in staying in MotoGP for another two years until the end of 2016.
The nine-time World Champion has been racing in the premier class for fourteen years, but Rossi’s two-year contract with Movistar Factory Yamaha Racing ends at the end of the 2014 season.
It’s been documented since the end of last season that ‘The Doctor’ would like to continue racing for another two-years as long as he is still competitive.
As it was announced this week that Marc Marquez has just re-signed with the Repsol Honda Team for another two years the speculation surrounding other riders has begun.
When asked about his contract situation, Rossi explained: “Last year I had some good races, one victory, but in the second part of the season I was a bit too far from the top three. So I wanted to see if this year would be any better.”
“Sincerely I feel better and I am enjoying it a lot, to continue to race and to work with Yamaha and my team. So my project is to make another contract for two seasons and I think in the next weeks, during the next races we will talk with Yamaha in order to continue.”
