nothing fancy. my Shoei X-11 and my baseball cap. I got my helmet in the same color as my car. kind of dumb, since i don't use the helmet when driving my car. if i had a chance to do it again, i would get flat black.

I picked up a new helmet a couple of weeks ago.

That's a neat design, Ryan!

It's a symbol from my favorite video game, Shadow of the Colossus (PS2). In it you track down these massive colossi and climb on top of them to find their weak spots, identified by the symbol which glows as you get near it. I got the symbol printed as a reflective decal for safety and style, and plopped it on my weak spot.

Nice and boring... RF-1000 in Anthracite. Not the best or most visible color, but it was cheap :thumbup:

I've got the dark smoke visor also that I use most of the time when I know I'll be back before dark. Otherwise, it's a pair of sunglasses under the clear shield.

My second helmet that I picked up yesterday..I was riding with a Joe Rocket Stain helmet before..held up ok in my crash, but got some face bruising. I also totaled my black '08 250, but bought another used one with the insurance check :)

I borrowed my friends Scorpion until my new Shoei came in and it felt about as comfortable as a hollowed out TV set, you know one of the old CRT style TVs.. His helmet is not even two years old and half the tabs and air vents are broken on it. Plus its heavy as ****.. Don't remember the model, either the 700 or 1000. Admittedly I'm biased. My first helmet when I was 12 was a Shoei, and I've been a Shoei man ever since.

Anyway here is mine--Shoei TZ-R. Snagged it on clearance for 199.99:

Added another helmet to the collection just for the Ninja. It's a Vega Altura in Green and Silver. It's light and has great ventilation which is a good thing here in Sunny Florida in the summer. :)

Wind knocked the Scorpion Exo-700 off the bike so I had to get a new one. Great helmet though! :thumbup:

Then chose the Exo-400 cause the 700s didn't have anything green. But that lasted a month cause it was heavy and something about the center of gravity or aerodynamics kept giving me neck pain.

Now - Shark RSR2. Much lighter and much more aerodynamic (i.e. no dead spot for rain). But it hurts the ears! Hoping that'll break in though...

I didn't really expect much when buying this helmet. It got a great review from webBikeWorld.com and as a sub ~200 helmet, I just went for it. Gets lots of comments, people like the vent styling (not shown off as well in the picture) and how it isn't covered in crazy graphics.

Does anyone with a scorpion helmet here have the chin skirt here? Does it make it harder to get the helmet on/off, and is it worth the 7 or 8 dollars it cost. It has been down in the 50's and 60's here at night and my face is freezing after a ride even with the vents closed.

Ya I've got one that I used on the exo400. Definitely helps block the wind from getting up the neck and it blocks some wind noise. I've only had it on a couple times, though, as it's been far too warm to use it and the exo's now my passenger/backup helmet

If it's really cold, though, nothing beats a balaclava!

But... my helm is a Large, and when i rode in 37-45 degree Morning Temps in April (michigan here). I never had a problem with my FACE being cold... ONLY my NECK would freeze! lol

Also, no i never had a Problem with teh Chin Skirt when putting/taking Helm OFF/ON!

Joe Rocket RKT101. I'm glad I found one to try on at a local shop. Fits my noggin perfectly (my skull is on the long/narrow side, so lots of helmets that fit me front-to-back don't fit side-to-side).

I added three fluorescent yellow reflective stripes that I got from the MSF course to it, about 1" x 4". You can see one under the visor. Another matching one is on the other side, and the third is horizontal in the back. Because I lined them up with existing graphics, they look good.

Oh, and I got it on sale for under $120. DOT and Snell 2005. :thumbup:

I've got a plain white Scorpion EXO-400 right now, but I am hell bent on having one of them AGV S-4 dealies (prolly the blue/white). That goes with a yellow bike, right? :thumbup:

Is that painted on or vinyl? It'd be a pain to get a replacement shield if you can't switch it. The thing is, I plan to have my helmet painted to look like Captain Falcon from F-Zero and getting a sticker over part of the windshield would really help with the look.

It's a symbol from my favorite video game, Shadow of the Colossus (PS2). In it you track down these massive colossi and climb on top of them to find their weak spots, identified by the symbol which glows as you get near it. I got the symbol printed as a reflective decal for safety and style, and plopped it on my weak spot.

I didn't really expect much when buying this helmet. It got a great review from webBikeWorld.com and as a sub ~200 helmet, I just went for it. Gets lots of comments, people like the vent styling (not shown off as well in the picture) and how it isn't covered in crazy graphics.

Is it wrong that I like the 2 helmets posted here that have red/black flowers on them?

My GMAX shields break like crazy and are an absolute pain to install/swap. It's so difficult to do without breaking one that I wouldn't even think of swapping between the free shaded shield and the clear one at night or else I'd risk having NONE. :| Unlike you GM-68S, mine is the GM-58S (previous year model, same shield, no lights and far fewer vents but has Snell at least). It whistles like *crazy* (ear-piercing high-pitch), the top vents don't seem to make a difference when toggled between closed/open, the shield doesn't close all the way on the XL size, and the leather-like cloth flaps at the bottom are all cracked up/rotting. It's saving grace is the extreme suitability for installing intercom/bluetooth kits. The mesh area in the front for a boom mic, the space for clamping a unit between the separable shell and the padding, the easy routing or wires for flat speakers, and (get this) the actual pockets with acoustical holes for speakers in the removable side pads. Granted, I had to stuff those cloth pockets with tissue and stick my speakers on the outside (they have a velcro-like back side that sticks perfectly) if I ever expected to hear anything. Even now, I'm contemplating integrating some earmuffs. I'm going to lose my hearing!

They look like those stratchy book covers you use to protect school books. The shield stickers are probably one-way graphics that look like tinting from the inside like those sports team logo sunglasses you see everywhere. I'm sure it's a world better than stretching pantyhose over the helmet and painting that. :) It would help cover my blemishes, hide my expensive SK4000 Bluetooth kit and ugly helmet cam mount (it's the crappy Tony Hawk "toy" helmet cam) and route wires to an extended battery pack that I'll mod in myself.

See my avatar? Yeah. Captain Falcon (F-Zero). That's what I'm lookin' to make. Samus Aran's (Metroid) powersuit helmet would be pretty cool (specifically, the Varia Suit), though other gamers would probably prefer Master Cheif's (Halo). :)

Captain Falcon would be simple and would match my blue bike, which I will name "Blue Falcon" like his well-known hovercraft (F-Zero is actually a futuristic racing game). Because it's so simple, it would only require:
A red helmet skin with a false chin and two partial yellow circles on the side
A shield sticker that completes the yellow circle (it would go over the hinge area instead of the viewport) and adds the bridge of a nose between/below my line of sight and triangular "eyes" in the shaded area.

Google Image Search "Captain Falcon" for some official art. He's supposed to be an uber-generic chiseled-jaw superhero (it was Nintendo's attempt and being deliberately campy).

It was an expensive day for him! One of the guys I was with was an off-duty cop. He wasn't impressed that this guy destroyed his helmet. The black one was my replacement.

That is a great helmet. I just bought one last week and wore it around- too tight and the next size up too big. :( So had to return it.
That is why I want back to Arai with the Corsair V you can even change up the lining.
I think if the guys at the dealer were just a bit more patient with me I would have not gone to the OTHER dealer and upgraded to the Corsair. They lost a pretty big sale on that and I was ready to order a jacket also.
At the other dealer....
The Sales gal there really knew her stuff, while the other guys didn't even know what was interchangable.
They just thought I was a crazy but I was just having a hard time finding the right shape.

Lesson to be taught to sales peep. Take the time to learn your product and listen...

My helmet is a standard black RF-1000. It's a nice helmet, I like it. Added some black magic reflective strips to it. They are black when light isn't hitting them, then at night they reflect very brightly. Photos are taken with a flash to show the reflective stripes I added. i'll tell you right now, i don't think they will. the suction cup thingie isn't all that great, and i followed the instructions perfectly. but that doesn't mean i'm gonna give up. Where theres a will, theres a way.

Got the icon on closeout for $145 :)

Vega had less wind noise, which means you hear the bike whistle more while wearing it. Icon is snug, though sunglasses fit kinda funny now.

I believe that it is like the material they make stretchy book covers with so it wouldn't *totally* stop the airflow.

Just need to replace the clear visor, can't decide if I want just a plain ol' dark smoked visor or spring the extra money for the dark blue iridium.

Stupid question: For those of you with the colored visors, is the color of the visor the actual color that you see when wearing it... like if I got the blue visor, would everything be blue when wearing the visor? I would imagine that would really screw with perception. I've never worn a helmet w/anything but a clear shield.

Nope. Don't know about the Bell's, but the iridium Shoei visors are light smoke (if not a little lighter).
