Age Calculator

This is pretty neat.

DON'T CHEAT BY SCROLLING DOWN FIRST!
It takes less than a minute .
Work this out as you read .
Be sure you don't read the bottom until you've worked it out!
This is not one of those waste of time things, it's fun.

1. First of all, pick the number of days you've ridden your motorcycle in the past ten days (must be at least one)

2. Multiply this number by 2

3. Add 5

4. Multiply it by 50 -- I'll wait while you get the calculator

5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1759 ..
If you haven't, add 1758.

6. Now subtract the four digit year that you were born.

You should have a three digit number

The first digit of this was your original number
(i.e., how many days you've ridden).

The next two numbers are

YOUR AGE!

Wait wait wait....the integral isn't working out for me....am i supposed to use la-place transforms or something?

Ok....sorry....bad engineering joke. Anyway thats freaky haha.

Some mathematician must have been rather bored. :)

Wow, it actually works! Except I got a 4 digit number :p I have rode my bike 10 days in the past 10 days :D

Some mathematician must have been rather bored. :)

Or maybe a 6th-grade pre-algebra student. :D If you write it out, it works out to: 100x + 2009 - year of birth. :p

pretty cool. Did you just find something and tweak it for motorcycles?

Oh, I've got another one!

1. Start with 0
2. Add 2009 to your starting number
3. If you have already had your birthday this year, subtract the year you were born. If you havent had your birthday yet this year, subtract the year you were born, then subtract 1.

Thats your age!

I actually saw it posted somewhere as a chocolate calculator (based on the number of times you had eaten chocolate in the past ten days.) That was kind of dumb, so I modified it for a motorcycle forum.

That's what we engineers like to call: black magic.
