Finished mounting my new tires today. Bike has a little over 7k miles and the rear was getting close to the wear bars in the middle. I could have gotten more miles out of it but I was itchin to get the new tires on, as they've been sitting in my garage for a while now. I'm surprised that more people here aren't running these tires. Everyone seems to be going for the DRII's, but the Metzeler's are a little cheaper, and are some pretty sweet tires IMO.

I had these tires on my klx250sf when I had that bike, so I already knew what to expect. For the 300 I stuck with a 110 up front, and a 150 in the rear.

While I had the rear wheel off I painted some of the swingarm bits as well.

I don't have much experience with different tires, so I was asking for others' opinions when I was deciding what I wanted to put on my VRossi wheels.

I've ridden the new interacts and found them vague feeling. This was true of the older Metzeler radials as well, though Metzeler called them "nuetral" feeling. Metzelers are also steel belted and much heavier per tire than an equivalent sized Michelin. Just a few things to.consider...

I ended up getting the Michelin Pilot Powers, and I like them so far.

I was thinking about getting the Michelin Pilot Road 3's, but I couldn't justify the extra cost over the Metzelers. Tires are like oil I guess, and everyone has their own opinions/preferences. I find the M5's to be a good handling and confidence inspiring tire, even in the wet which is important to me.

They also get a lot of good reviews, so it seems plenty of people would agree with me. I don't know why anyone would think they are a heavy tire either. I didn't put them on the scale or anything, but they certainly felt lighter than the stock tires.

BTW I've heard some horror stories about pilot powers, where people swear that the tires tried to kill them.

The metzler's hands down the best tire I've ever run. I've had Dunlops, Pirelli and Michelin and the Metzlers have the best grip in all weather. I currently have 7000km on mine and they barely have a flat spot. Was just at Tail of the Dragon and the tires ran well even on the wet.

I switched to the M5s after 6000K on the stock hockey pucks, one of the best upgrades I made to the bike. I don't know how to describe it other than they inspire WAY more confidence than the stock.

I ran them down to the wear bars and tried to order another set, but couldn't find them in stock :( I'm running Battlax S20s now but they're just not the same... I would go back to the M5s in a heartbeat.
