Hey all not sure why this started, but it wasn't an issue till I changed oil 2 weeks ago.
Every ride it seems to leak from the cap...

I have changed the oil cap seal, no change and original looked fine, so I put original back.

Not sure what is the cause...I know I overfilled it when I first changed oil. But I drained it all that same day and refilled to proper levels.
It's hard to check the site glass alone however, but I'm pretty sure it's at top site marker when straight up and down.

Any thoughts/ideas???

Edit:
I have noticed I put oil cap back on hand tight, and I mean where it just starts to tighten. When I need to clean oil leaked, the cap is an utter bitch to get off... As if someone gorrilla gripped it putting it back on.

Might still be too full... are you sure you're following the proper process to measure the oil? OR you should tighten it more?

are you sure it's coming from the cap and not somehting on top of the engine

I'm thinking it might be just a tad overfilled, as I know I am doing Oil change same as I did several times on 250 and never had a leak. However then I also had front and rear stands (that I don't now). This oil change was done on sidestand and checked levels trying to hold bike upright, while trying to look down at site glass, all while alone.

As for tightening the cap, that isn't the issue, plus the way only after a ride, it seems to get tighter (eg. harder to turn to get off) then it was when I put it on.

I was thinking that means too much pressure being built up cause I'm still over filled??

Pretty sure it's from the cap, I was hoping pics would show that better, and they do, but the pics in original format too big to put on web and link in forums. So I resized it down.. attaching original to this post.

I took cap and examined it in some good light last night, and found traces of a drop/damage to it and a small chunk missing right on the edge.

Hoping a new cap, which I ordered today, will help issue.
Until then I drained all oil and re-filling tonight w fresh Rotella T6 and see how that goes.

New seal ring on current cap fixed it...
