So, i thought i'd make a thread with all the stuff i'm doing and have done to my 300.

Here we go:

Day 1, picked up and on the way home!
http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/h478/coolcat7000/ABBD6107-C8A1-4CAD-B401-A66FAD3544C2-263-000000218B593696_zpsfa2486ec.jpg (http://s1111.photobucket.com/user/coolcat7000/media/ABBD6107-C8A1-4CAD-B401-A66FAD3544C2-263-000000218B593696_zpsfa2486ec.jpg.html)

Things she already had:
Two brothers carbon slip on.
****** frame sliders (i found out just how ****** later...)
Green LEDs
Extension blocks for the mirrors.

First thing to go on was the lowering kit. Use the same Roaring Toyz blocks i have laying around from the 250 and ordered the links to match with a adjustable kickstand. Not much to show ith that.

Stickers!

Green bolts for the pipe. :)

I forget what i was doing this day but somehow the kickstand gave out. :(:(
http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/h478/coolcat7000/Bikes/20140419_113850.jpg (http://s1111.photobucket.com/user/coolcat7000/media/Bikes/20140419_113850.jpg.html)

Insurance covers all the repairs. Thank god

Some of the things they put on the quote just didn't seem worth repairing so went with some upgrades instead. First and foremost was the sliders that had bent like paper. Nor have the Shogun "no cut" sliders. Look so much better then the old ones. And went with the double bubble windshield. Somehow the stock one cracked.

And when i picked her up my boyfriend surprised me by having them put this on:
http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/h478/coolcat7000/Bikes/20140517_131851.jpg (http://s1111.photobucket.com/user/coolcat7000/media/Bikes/20140517_131851.jpg.html)

Next up, grips and levers!
http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/h478/coolcat7000/Bikes/20140428_1703381.jpg (http://s1111.photobucket.com/user/coolcat7000/media/Bikes/20140428_1703381.jpg.html)

Love this pic! :D

Anyway, not long after that got a Saddlemen low seat:
http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/h478/coolcat7000/20140527_121400.jpg (http://s1111.photobucket.com/user/coolcat7000/media/20140527_121400.jpg.html)

I'll skip the botched phone mounts and go rite the the winner.
http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/h478/coolcat7000/Bikes/20140724_185531.jpg (http://s1111.photobucket.com/user/coolcat7000/media/Bikes/20140724_185531.jpg.html)

And i think that brings us up to today.... I may have forgotten something but meh... i can add it later if i did.

So back to today:

Install a MD integrated tail light and fender eliminator.
Really like the eliminator, looks clean and want on nicely.

http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/h478/coolcat7000/Bikes/20140726_135343.jpg (http://s1111.photobucket.com/user/coolcat7000/media/Bikes/20140726_135343.jpg.html)

And my "mount" for the LED relay.
http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/h478/coolcat7000/Bikes/20140726_150724.jpg (http://s1111.photobucket.com/user/coolcat7000/media/Bikes/20140726_150724.jpg.html)

So that where she stand now. To be continued....

Changed out my grips today:

And i wanted my hooks base so we modified the bracket to work with the eliminator kit. as it turns out the holes for the bracket are the same spacing as the rear most fender bolts:

A friend was showing me his stable of old and wonderful bikes. As he was starting them up to let me hear all the different sounds, I caught sight of the keys.

They had screwdriver handles!

He couldn't figured out why I was laughing so hard until I explained about yours.

LittleRedNinjette

Ha! I have never heard of that before! I assumed you had to rig the ignition since you did not have a key.

Is there a DIY for that somewhere? I will have to search when I have time.

LittleRedNinjette
July 28th, 2014, 06:47 AM
I didnt do it myself but you just need a stubby screwdriver a torch and q-bond (i think thats what he used)

You got to hear the shaft of the screwdriver up till you can pull it out of the handle and then with the q-bond shove the key in. after you trim the rubber off the key that is.

I can get more detail from him later on how he made them (he has on on his Buell too).

Seat cowl! Had to do some modification to the passenger seat so i can easily switch between the cowl and the seat with my bag attached.

The 300 cowls are a lot better fit the the newgen cowls. :D

The use of the stove is.... interesting...

He just used a map gas torch. Heat shaft till it pulls out easy and the shove the key in before it cools.

Bet the house stunk when he was done.

Do you want to cover the ENTIRE area? or do you just want a radiator guard? Usually thats the only spot people want to cover up with mesh

LittleRedNinjette

I was thinking something to cover the entire opening. I'm guessing I'll have to make something but I'm ok with that. Just have to hash out what kind of materials and mounting hardware to go with.

Want:
ZX-6R Headlight

This is on my list as well. I look at the 636 at the dealership every time I'm there just to look at the headlight. It's an expensive, but sweet looking mod that's for sure. I heard the lens do a better job of throwing light then the stock reflectors.

I'm hoping to find one off a wrecked bike at some point. Maybe in a year or so. CL and ebay may have something pop up.

Thanks! :D

They come in handy when you have stubby fingers and the very tips are all you can get on the lever. :p

Basically they just bring the levers to a more comfortable distance.

I can get pic of the settings if you want.

Mike K

Looks like a nice thing to have. So you can adjust them while you're riding?

NevadaWolf
August 21st, 2014, 12:50 PM
Or they move the levers out if you have long fingers and the stock ones are too close to the grip.

Definitely an awesome upgrade.

I kinda want to get stomp grips just for that lower portion that goes on the black plastics but that's a lot of money just to use half the kit lol.

Why just the lower? Maybe someone will split it wilh you.

The lower is about all I'd need... My legs rarely get that far up the tank these days, when they do I'm not really gripping

Cuz I already have techspecs for that and prefer the look of them anyway. Speaking of which, maybe I should remember to put them back on

1/2" to an 1". I want to try the "track" version, that one is supposed to be lower.

Will going up to a 150 in the back tire mess up the bikes handling? I heard people griping about the 250 going up to a 140. Is the 300 any different going to a 150??

Also, how do you plan on getting a zx6r headlight to fit?

I'm very envious of a lot of your mods :)

LittleRedNinjette
September 20th, 2014, 08:38 PM
One tire size isn't going to make much difference in anything but looks.

The headlight is actually deriect swap, one smaill bracket needs to be fliped and that's all.

Awesome, I also would prefer a larger back tire.

Are the zx6r lights better in terms of brightness? Or is it all just about looks?

They are supposed to be brighter. And look much cooler. :D

I was going to after market lights but I prefer oem, better quality normally.

Lucky! I want to do this mod too. It's kind of pricey for me as I don't really ride at night ever. For me it would be mainly a cosmetic change. It looks so nice though!

I work the night shift so I ride home at night a lot. The headlights definitely leave a lot to desired. Only reason I could ride home at a decent pace on the big sweeping turns is because I've memorized the route by now haha.

I had thought about doing the BK Moto retrofit but decided that I didn't really want to alter my OEM lights and risk messing them up. Hoping that going this route is a good compromise.

I mean, if you could grab a pair of lights for under $200 then it'd be worth it.

But imo, the 300 lights look good too, not as good as zx6r, but good enough to keep for sure.

I have no problem with how they look, but they sure could work better :p

Get them! I love my woodcrafts but man they were over $300 new for the full kit and they're not fully adjustable like the vortex rearsets are.

Hmm... maybe a bulb upgrade instead? Cheaper solution. Possibly.

Try for a better brand?

It was the highly recommended brand already. It's always going to be a trade-off of bulb longevity for brightness. I don't really like being left in the dark for the ride home that often.

Good catch! just shot him a text. :)

And on the headlights: I don't ride a lot at night so its not that high up on my list but i can understand wanting the upgrade if you do.

Going to pull the cowling from around the gauge cluster soon and put in my power point and the new switch for the green LEDs. Maybe this weekend. :)

Side note, anyone have suggestions on a inverted fork thats not a major headache to put in?

Hey LittleRedNinjette, just wondering where you got your green bolts and levers from? I have a black ninja and just want to add some green highlights to her. I have seen a couple of sellers on eBay but am not sure of the quality. Any hints?

Bolts: http://www.amazon.com/Two-Brothers-Racing-Series-Exhaust/dp/B001KO2O22

Levers: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00E0HVIIW?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00

The levers are fine for the price. but like with most anodizing the green did start to fade after a bit. the black held up great.

I was happy with them.
