I had a hunch that some of you may have a little too much free time, and I figured I was just the guy to help. Sure the latest and greatest game machines are pretty incredible. But sometimes you need a simple, basic, almost primitive game to get your mojo grooving again. And now you have over 150 of them at your fingertips. :D

Check out the Arcade link either in the Community menu, or the direct link down in the Forum Info section of the main forums page. (here's a direct link as well (http://www.ninjette.org/forums/arcade.php)) All of the games can be played within the existing window or in their own window. I prefer running them in their own window as you can make them full-screen. Make sure to save your high scores, and if yours happens to be bested by another forum member, you'll get an immediate PM to let you know to come back and clobber them right back. :thumbup:

I've tested most of the games, but if you do run into any problems please post up in this thread if you see any issues that you'd like me to take a look at. Some of my favorite games are James Bomb, Balloon Bomber, Bubble Trouble, KickUps, Meat Grill, Mosquito Kill, and SnakeMan. Happy time wasting! :p

The games are great and of course my favorite one is Snakeman.

Judging by the scores, Alex is the one with the free time issues. ;)

I wouldn't be so sure of my invincibility. Most of my high scores are just playing the game for 30 seconds to see if it works and saving the score. I have a feeling folks will be catching up sooner than you think...

Some of the games nothing shows up for me in the area where the game normally would be. :confused:

Post up the names of any games that aren't working for you; I think I've gone through each one at this point and I deleted the ones that I couldn't get working for me. Are you running them within the same window or are you clicking the "play in new window" link?

Same window, just tried the new window on one that wasn't working before (Jacks Bar) and it works.

There are 2 different ranks for the Arcade section. The first one is the obvious one, who has the most high scores. The top 3 users are listed right on the main arcade page. The other ranking is the League Scoring. Here's a link (http://www.ninjette.org/forums/arcade.php?&act=Arcade&module=league) to the leaderboard. The current table scoring is:

1st: 20 points
2nd: 10 points
3rd: 8 points
4th: 7 points
5th: 6 points
6th: 5 points
7th: 4 points
8th: 3 points
9th: 2 points
10th: 1 point

Only your best score counts for each game.

I was pretty confident that this feature would get some use, and so far that's certainly the case. It's only been up a few days, and people have already played 1,969 games. And no, they aren't all me. (though 300ish of them are). :)

I just changed the default sort order of the games in the arcade. They are now ordered by the number of times they each have been played, in ascending order. This puts the games that have only been played once at the top. Prior, the games starting with A & B were being played way more than the others, as they showed up on the first page.

You can also change it yourself to whatever sort order you'd prefer to see, just hit the settings link within the arcade screen.

I played the drag racing game for a couple hours . the Best I got was 8 something the # 1 is a 1.0 I don't think you can run a 1.0 in a time machine. :thumbup:

I had to make a change to the way high scores are saved, the tables were getting larger than I had expected. Going forward, only a users single highest score will be saved per game. Nobody's personal high score on any game is being deleted now, it's just that only the highest one stays. (the one exception is if it is a heavily played game that already has 10 other separate users with higher scores than you, then your score may be wiped as it's not in the top 10 / points paying position anyway. This is rare and only applicable to a handful of games like Snakeman, QB Challenge, and perhaps just a few more). This is a manual process that will take a little bit of time, but if you see that a score isn't being saved, that's only because you already have a higher score saved for that game. What this means is that each game will have 10 different users in the top 10 high score listing.

Still haven't gotten around to getting my space invaders score back...

Sorry folks - had to take the ninjette.org arcade offline today, hopefully only temporarily. Significant security exploit was found that could compromise the site, and the developer hasn't released a patch as of yet. Once one is released and I can update the code, I'll re-enable the arcade. No ETA on this as nobody has yet provided one, but I hope this won't be an extended problem.

I'm considering having the high scores in the arcade age out after 1 year. It seems like they are all so high, that nobody plays them much anymore, and there isn't much incentive left. If I did this, I would change it so all your scores are saved, not just the highest one, so if a higher one aged out you would still have the older ones.

What do people think?

I have found that if I get a score, then hit back to try again it never submits the second score. So I have to refresh the page before my second and subsequent attempts. Also yes, too many Deeno PMs :p

It looks like it's going to be an end of an era this month. Flash is officially dead, and most browsers and players will no longer enable it. That effectively means the end of the road for the ninjette arcade. It had a good run, and I wasted many hours over the years playing these silly games about 10 years back - but time moves on for all of us.
