I'm having some issues purchasing some race plastics for my 300 race bike that I'm currently building without breaking the bank. I already have a tail and front fender. I just need an upper and lower. Has anyone ever used a different bikes body work and made fit some how? I saw one guy in here used an RS125 upper and lower. I'm open to anything. I'm not racing yet, still just doing track days.

Anything is possible, I fit a 06 zx10r upper and lower on my 04, was pretty nice. All you have to do is see where they are mounting the fairing's at and make a bracket.

Maybe a 08-12 250r set would work?

why don't you just buy some hotbodies or shark skinz or whatever? its like 200 bucks... if you are worried about the cost of bodywork, you're going to be in for some serious shock when you try to start racing.

The fitment I would give it a 6 out of 10. The holes are pre-drilled, which could be a good or bad thing. In my case, the holes were where I expected them, but the plastic did not cover the areas I thought they would.

The main thing I don't like about the fairings is the hardness. They are brittle, with very little flexibility. I know once the bike hits the ground, the fairings will into 10,000 pieces. Even putting them on the bike without cracking them is an exercise.

For $330, you can't beat them. They get the job done. You just need to keep this info in mind and decide if the price is worth the issues gained.

I'd love to see another set of plastics that was smoothed out on the face and tail for easier placement of the race numbers (than the hotbodies I have).

Agreed - they are cheap but you get what you pay for. As mentioned they are very brittle and you can crack them just putting them on. If I had to do it again I'd probably spend more and get better quality.

Only issue I had with the motofairings set is the belly pan holes and reinforced morning point were no where close to being in the right spot. Had to make up my own custom brackets to be able to mount the belly pan. I think next time I will try Armour Bodies.

stock fairings can work for the track too.

fiberglass is much better than the cheap stuff. they hold up really well.

I feel like I missed something here, maybe it's the lack of sleep. I'm seeing $699.95 on the Hotbodies site and on STG, plus $140 shipping from STG or $161 shipping from Hotbodies.
That's $839.95 for the cheaper option (STG) - $419.98 per set. Where are we shaving off the $200 difference? Selling the tail? A partial set 2/1 option I didn't find? :help:

Many track day junkies and racers rate the quality and fitment of the hotbodies plastics lower than some of the other brands. I have had the hotbodies race bodywork on my bike for 3 brutal seasons of hardcore riding, 3 crashes, constant bumps and dings from loading and unloading, soooo much track debris hitting the upper at high speed.

Personally, I think it's the time spent prepping and installing the set properly vs just throwing them on. If you get the 2 for 1 deal and can split it with another rider. I feel you can't really go wrong. Especially, if you know how to do minor glasswork.

I see what I did though: I was looking for myself for only upper & lower fairings. They total $450 so $225 a set. But of course; thats not the offer! Only the full set @ $700 qualifies for the 2 for 1 discount! Apparently; reading is my second language! :doh:
