I saw this on the weekend at the Toronto motorcycle show.

http://31blk.com/products/31blk-mod-kit-for-the-kawasaki-ninja250-2008-2012

$1700 kit, includes everything. All metal, no cutting, they even provide the tools. The pillion seat detaches and stores on the bike.

Apologies if posted before, but my search for "BLK lab" only turned up a Black lab retriever.

It's here somewhere, under a different name I believe. One of our members bought one of the first kits and installed it.

I'd go for this if, god forbid, anything happend to my bike and the plastics got trashed. Looks good to me.

I would not drop my $1700 on that kit. But that is me.

my opinion; it looks fugly, not to mention you have to cut the frame to get the "full kit"

^^ That is why i would only do it with a wrecked bike.

I would relocate the headlights though.

And it is a bit on the pricey side...

on the other hand the "33k" for the 300 does look substantially better than the 31k.

i just wish they would do something about that hideous silver radiator and ugly, newly exposed horn

Some kind of blacked out greated cover would realy be enough.

even if you just painted those side blocks black.

LittleRedNinjette
March 23rd, 2015, 12:05 PM
That would work if you didnt want to cover the horn too.

This kinda looks like the bike from terminator salvation. Just needs some guns. :D

The 300 looks a lil better but I wouldn't want the front fairing.

Look closer at the site. That front "fairing" isn't one. It appears to be a removable pillion/rear sub frame, taken off and parked on the fork for storage.

Whatever it is, it's fugly.

The website states no mechanical or electrical modifications.

$1700CDN pesos...that's like 20 bucks now.
really under 1400.

The version without the pillion is under $800 US.

The video looks OTT , but that might be the MadMax rider getup...

Yes, the front thing is the pillion seat. It's a street fighter, which is an acquired taste. It might look better not all black.

The weight savings is about 10lbs.

Here's the video showing how the seat works.

their website is lying then. the rear seat on the "full kit" is cut off. notice how there is no rear seat. the frame is one piece. in order to remove the rear seat frame, you must cut it off.

so if you wanna cut up your frame, go for it. but don't good sales people take you for a ride. so to speak.

just seems like over priced junk. The KOSO gauge is the only thing that seems worth anything, i don't understand how you get $1700 for that crap kit.

The bike in the vid is mine's. Yes you have to cut the tail frame and fender. You will need tools as that's not provided. I have a 636 and CBR600RR and I get more attention when riding the 250R. Don't pay $1700 for the kit, opt out on the seat and get it for $900-ish instead cause the seat isn't worth it. The quality of the kit is good and better than any Chinese/Indonesian fairings I've had. It's all hand made and practically a 1 man shop so it takes forever to receive your order.

This kit is for someone who wants something different. Most people would prefer spending the $900 on performance parts.

I agree. Without some modification to the kit it looks ugly. It's a simple fix though. Paint the two sides and add a black radiator cover like I did. Also, front/back turn signals are hideous because it uses the stock. I added aftermarket fronts and integrated tail light to the back. Also, the stock exhaust along with this kit is so ugly. Get a short exhaust. Get rid of the rear passenger foot rest too, damn thing doesn't fit with this kit. While you're at it, relocate the rear reservoir. You'll need rear tire hugger unless you want rocks/dirt to kick up to your back due to short tail.

I only wished I lived closer to the guy so I can customize this kit to my liking as he is willing to work with you to make any changes. I would definitely change the look of the side fairings to look more compact and flow with the design. If done right, this kit looks pretty awesome. I get stopped all the time on the streets from people telling me how it looks awesome and what bike it is. Sadly I have to tell them it's a 250R. In the future I want to make some mods like this to my 636.

NINJAZX6R123, do you still have the youtube on the BLKlab body kit?

When I click on the link says "Private Video".

or what's your name on youtube?

I'm really intersted in ordering the kit.

Thanks,
