View Full Version : Spoiler tag?

I know it's been brought up before, but I am still curious on this.

Has there been any change in the last year for this version of vbulletin that might allow for a spoiler tag? I know one of the issues was how any hidden text would come across in the email notifications.

So, specifically, I am only interested in the ability to hide graphic pictures. Since pictures only come through as links in email, it would still allow a subscriber to read the message, see text that (hopefully) warns of the content, and decided to click on the links/post or not.

Obviously, it won't stop the thumbnail of an attached image, but most of the road rash ones come from other sites.

Another idea around that might be to make it a forum rule that graphic/nsfw pictures must be linked to and not posted directly on the forum.

This is already a rule.

From TOS

2.7. Members shall not post images containing, nudity, partial nudity, sexual acts, or depiction thereof, questionable images should be linked and not directly visible in a thread. This link, and if possible the thread title, should carry a warning that such material may be offensive to some. The general application being NWS = "Not Work Safe"..

That seems to just encompass porn though, which I already figured was covered anyway. I take NSFW to include gory stuff too.

That's the thing.. Past nudity, NSFW is entirely subjective

Hence my suggestion about a rule change to include stuff like that if the spoilers function can't be implemented.

There is no change to the software that makes a spoiler tag more useful. But - if you see a graphic picture that you believe should be linked instead, just pm the poster and/or hit the "report post" button, and I'm happy to convert it to a link. For motorcycle gore pics, I don't worry about them too much if it's in a thread that is somehow talking about crashes anyway, but if it's over the top, just let me know.
