I know they're all different, but there seems to be a little bit of ambiguity with scrambler, cafe racer, and flat tracker especially. I've been looking at them all on inatagram but still no clear cut definition.

cafe racer is essentially a stock UJM that has been "raced out" in the old styles. bar end mirrors, designed for tucked BP, to go fast while looking good. most unneeded bits removed. weight minimal

flat tracker is an old race bike that was designed to go around a dirt oval. they're designed to slide and they spend most of the time sideways. microscopic gas tanks, extremely light weight, TONS of clearance.

scrambler is very similar to a flat tracker. scrambler is the old name for a motocross bike. so now a days a scrambler just refers to a bike that looks like old school MX bikes.

chopper is a similar concept to cafe of removing everything you dont need, except they don't care about handling performance, so they also ditch things like rear suspension. typically choppers are setup for highway cruising, so bp is more laid back with long bars.

bobber is similar to a chopper, except its designed to be more of a street bike. less stuff removed. usually just means a street boy that's had the seats cut off and replaced with a little single springer indian style seat.

You can mix and match also. The original cafes were british bikes though. Now every mod bike is "cafe" it seems.
never mind my build linked below :)

Yeah. Honestly, i think british cafe and japanese cafe bikes are kind of two different realms.

not really. brit bikes back then were a dime a dozen. now a days, they are relatively rare. the cafe crew switched to UJMs because they're so ubiquitous. you can buy a beater cb400 for $500 and have it looking fresh with another 500.
