I wanted to make a rack to be able to carry a tail pack (or case of beer) flat on the back of my 2009 Ninjette so made my own. I never carry a passenger and especially not when I'm traveling with pack (or beer) so decided to repurpose a used passenger seat pan.

I found a damaged passenger seat on this board from one of the nice parter-outers members (thanks, garth285!) and made an offer we both could live with. I took the damaged cover and foam off and took some measurements.

I found that the Givi E70 universal rack would fit nicely on the pan and found one on eBay.

Final step was to have a local upholstery shop cover the naked seat pan with a thin layer of foam and marine grade black vinyl to hid the dips and ridges on of the pan.

Mounting the rack on the predilled holes made prior to recovering was a snap.

All in all I have about a bill into the project. I could have skinnied it down a bit by doing the vinyl myself or found a cheaper pan or reused the existing pan, but I'm happy with the end product.

What do you think? :dancecool:
