View Full Version : Upgraded to a 2009 Buell XB12Scg!
NickH July 4th, 2009, 07:38 AM Well,
After owning my 2004 Yamaha FZ6 for 3 years, I decided it was time to upgrade my bike. I traded in my FZ6 and purchased a 2009 Buell XB12Scg. This bike is an absolute beast to ride with 103 HP and 84 ft. lbs of torque. Here she is......

CC Cowboy July 4th, 2009, 08:01 AM Nice bike. Almost a Harley. Now you don't have to wear gear (Harley joke). It looks pretty hilly where you live. I have a lot of distant relatives in Iowa (so far away they don't even know me). I thought Iowa was all pig farms. I didn't see any in your pictures. Do you keep them out back or something?
Bike is beautiful. I always loved those front brakes. I have a friend who builds choppers and uses those front ends and brakes on the bikes he builds.
Happy 4th! Go ride and get off the forum.
Daeldren July 4th, 2009, 08:03 AM Sweet Buell man, they are very unique bikes.

Haha, no pigs at my house. I do actually live in a very hilly part of Iowa (NE side of the state)......I would be riding if it wasn't raining all day......
Happy 4th to everybody as well!

sharky nrk July 4th, 2009, 10:17 AM that thing is a stump puller for sure - must have guts in any gear at any time. its no tech screamer by any means - but a cool and unique machine no doubt
CLSully826 July 4th, 2009, 10:18 AM Nice bike
I'm stuck inside as well. Gotta love weather in Iowa.
CC Cowboy July 4th, 2009, 10:35 AM Since it's raining and you're stuck inside, check out Storz Performance for goodies for the Buel.

komohana July 5th, 2009, 01:26 AM when i knew i'd be returning to the road and started looking at bikes, the XB-12 series was THEE fantasy pick. XB12R was wet dream material.
congrats on the ride.
wonder how that toruqe is gonna change your throttle wrist workouts :)
miks July 5th, 2009, 01:48 AM The short rear end makes it looks like the Cafe Racers, lovely bike. Looks like a beast.
muffinman July 5th, 2009, 02:05 AM Congrats - that bike is BEASTLY looking.. the color, FAT swingarm, belt-drive, huge brakes, huge tires, etc.
But what's up with the non-digital tach?
Snake July 5th, 2009, 06:52 AM Before I bought my ninjette I was debating between the Buel Blast and the Ninja 250. After much research I decided on the Ninja 250. I do like the bigger Buel bikes though.
Happy riding.
NickH July 5th, 2009, 06:54 AM Everything about this bike is beastly.....I can't say enough about this bike. I have put over 400 miles now (break in is 500) and I have no complaints at all.
A couple facts about the bike......The gas is actually inside the frame, the oil is inside the swingarm, what looks like the gas tank is actually the airbox, as for the tach not being digital, I think they were going for a retro look.....

kazam58 July 5th, 2009, 07:04 AM That is a gorgeous bike, I know a friend who has a Buell and they are certainly unique bikes. You'll have plenty of fun with that sucker. ;)
Personally I don't like digital tachs, the analog ones are easier to read imo.

17000 miles in 6 months of riding
NickH July 5th, 2009, 09:37 AM Awesome Firebolt! What year is that? 17,000 miles in 6 months is really impressive. How's the bike treating you?

2004 XB12-S Lighting. I added the Firebolt fairing and FreeSpirit Rear Sets.
Second pic from the bottom is post accident rebuild right before I sold her off. I couldn't ride and needed to get some transportation to get to work. I have most of enough parts to build another Buell, just not in a rush to do another ground up build.
NickH July 5th, 2009, 09:59 AM It's definitely a sharp looking bike. Nice job on the build.

I believe Nick still owns a 2009 250. So how does this ex-ninjetters lair thing work for people w/ multiple bikes?
NickH July 21st, 2009, 04:01 PM I do indeed own a ninja and a buell.......that's a good question Kelly.

Strider July 21st, 2009, 06:54 PM That's a mean lookin' Buell Nick! A real BEAST
I didn't know Buell looked so good :) There's a dealership 2 miles down the road from me, but I've only seen the Blast being ridden in Gastonia.
Congrats!
NickH July 21st, 2009, 07:21 PM You should head over to the dealer for a test ride. The Buell dealers around here are really good about letting you ride any bike of your choice.

paterick4o8 July 21st, 2009, 07:53 PM one of my riding buddies has this bike. sounds sweet with that HD engine and his aftermarket exhaust.
I wouldn't mind having one :p

Haha, they are very smart about what they're doing. I was hooked after I went on a test ride during an AMA Superbike race. Buell had a tent setup and you could ride any bike you wanted.
