Yamaha's Fazer8 is no longer available in the UK
YAMAHA has dropped the Fazer8 (http://www.visordown.com/road-tests/tested-yamaha-fazer8-abs/19272.html), FZ1 (http://www.visordown.com/reviews/motorcycles/naked/yamaha-fz1-2006---present/318.html)and XJ6 (http://www.visordown.com/reviews/motorcycles/naked/yamaha-xj6-2009---present/2629.html) from its UK line-up.
A Yamaha source told Visordown the decision was taken due to dwindling sales of the models.
The Fazer8 and FZ1 and naked XJ6 are no longer listed on Yamaha’s UK website (http://www.yamaha-motor.eu/uk/products/motorcycles/index.aspx) and the bikes are no longer available from dealers.
The hailf-faired XJ6 Diversion (http://www.visordown.com/reviews/motorcycles/sports-tourers/yamaha-xj6-diversion-2008/4146.html) is destined for the same fate, although residual dealer stock means it’s currently still listed as part of Yamaha’s UK range. So if you’re in the market for a new XJ6 Diversion, you’d better move quickly.
The dwindling sales may be partly due to the success of Yamaha's MT (http://www.visordown.com/motorcycle-news--general-news/yamaha-reaps-the-rewards/28015.html) range, especially where there is some overlap between the niche's filled by the machines, with the Fazer8 and MT-09 Tracer (http://www.visordown.com/road-tests-first-rides/first-ride-yamaha-mt-09-tracer-review/26005.html), for example, both catering for sports-touring needs.
Figures for the first half of 2015 revealed the firm’s net sales were up 65.1 billion yen to 821.1 billion yen, with the motorcycle division accounting for the lion’s share of that.
All three models that have been discontinued in the UK are still part of Yamaha’s European model lineup.
