the vid's comments are correct. You'll see the ninja slow down to wait for the poser who stalled. But I don't see the purpose of the video. Everyone knows that a 600 will beat a 250 in a straight line... it's got more than 3 times the hp.

A better vid would be the poser versus a 250 in a couple of twisties... guarantee you the 250 would win against a guy who can't even take off properly

250 is a lot slower than a 600cc CBR...But that video doesnt prove anything.

Yah, you can tell the ninja was still just kinda coasting waiting for idiot on the CBR to learn how to ride. Plus, what's the point of comparing straight line between an entry level sport bike and a middleweight supersport bike? With about 3x the power of course the straight line acceleration of the CBR is going to be alot higher then the 250r.

According to some tests I've seen (Cycle World, Motorcycle Consumer News) the 250 has a 0-60 time of about 5.5 to 6 seconds. Faster than most cars, slower than most bigger bikes.

It's a 250 twin. If you need to do 0-60 in under 4 seconds, you're on the wrong motorcycle.

For a 250 this bike is very fast. With that said you can't go camparing apples to oranges.

This isn't even a comparison. Why would anyone even think of making a comparison between two different class of bikes.

You can pretty much just twist the throttle completely and not have the front end fly up right? That's an advantage over the 600+cc bikes that have to be careful they don't end up with their heavy bike on top of them.

Depending how light you are, yep. I can lift the front from a stop in first gear, going all out. Not very high at all though.

If you dump the clutch at around 9000 RPM you will get a nice wheely..and bog the engine pretty rapidly at the same time :p..no way to lift the front unless its on purpose.

N 250 is never going to be a drag bike, but a mountain killer it has a lot of potential. In fact Id suffice to say that the ninja would give that cbr a run for its money even with equal skilled riders in the twisties.

I've done the same thing... At least one person around here looped a 300 at the track :rotflmao: then there are the stunters on 250 an 300's doing wheelies as they please

Yes, it's really that slow. Even if two skilled, professional racers got perfect launches, it wouldn't look much different than the video. It's a silly comparison to make really, but does show the difference in power to riders who seek understanding why they are being told that starting on a lower powered bike is considered a safer option.

Going further, talented 250 racers will lift the front wheel just a tiny hair at launch and going from 1st to 2nd IF... they time the shift "just right" and their bike is well tuned.
