I want to get the best protection I can get without sacrificing too much comfort.

I ride my bike to class so I would like to walk in them without feeling like I'm wearing ski boots.

Does anything like that exist, or am I asking for too much?
Is there a pair of boots that offers both protection AND comfort?

PS: I don't have a set budget.

look for a touring/street boot. The racing boots are uncomfortable to walk around in and will make you look like some sort of alien walking around campus. :D

Check out the Riding Boots from: ICON

i wear the ICON red/blk Accelerant Waterproof Riding Boot.

Ive worn them everywhere i go when i ride. and Honestly they feel comfy like a pair of Air jordans i used to wear in HS.

ICON makes waterproof, vented (warm temps).

STG has youtube Videos that show and explain alil info about the product!

I wear square toed Dingo Harness boots. They are about $100, are comfortable, offer good protection, and go well with jeans. Been using them about 30 years. I get about three years out of a pair. For general use and touring, they are great. A lot of us older, more traditional riders wear them. If I was racing or doing track time, I would go for SIDI. I use SIDI bicycle shoes when I do Crit races and Time Trials. River Road also makes a nice harness boot. Check your catalogs like Bike Bandit and Dennis Kirk.

Dainese Torque In...comfortable enough but I wouldn't go running in them.

the alpinestars are actually very comfortable to walk in. unfortunately, most of the race boots tend to squeek when you walk in them due to the ankle supports.

:whathesaid: aside from the squeaking and popping mine do I would wear them all the time at work if they would let me.

Lots of squeaking though.

Sidi Streetburner would be what I would think of: http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/1/1/36/12820/ITEM/Sidi-Streetburner-Boots.aspx

Might as well go for a full sidi vertigo or vortice if you're even considering the streetburner.

Under jeans or riding pants that go over the boot, they'll look exactly the same but the full boot will have superior protection.

I wear a spare pair of flight boots I got issued to me. The are leather wig nomes lining and reinforced around ankle heel and toe. I figure If they are spose to protect my ankle and down in a plane crash then they will do the job on a road at 65. I am not the combat boots acid wash jeans type of bad ass so I just keep my slippers in my back pack. As long as I am not grocery shopping I can fit my boots in my backpack just fine and carry my helmet.

A little off topic but there are such things as helmet locks on bikes??? Don't think I would use it here (theft is kinda high) but just curious??

Aside from the Helimot/Daytona's, SIDI's are the best.. they look pretty good under jeans and are comfortable.

With the price of boots I wouldn't walk to much in them (wearing down the sole). Just keep some flip flops (Florida MC boots) with you to wear at school.

If your school has a gym you might be able to get a locker for your stuff.

The hubby has these boots and he loves them. They look great on and off the bike, lightweight, and very comfortable and reasonably priced. They are $125 just about everywhere.

i got my pair from STG for $90. I was buying other stuff at the time there, so jeff gave me a lil extra discount. :)
