The 2016 Moto Guzzi V9 Bobber and V9 Roamer are ideal for relaxed, low-speed cruising on open highways. With bikes like these, there's no pressure on you to perform, just take it easy...

Moto Guzzi (http://www.fasterandfaster.net/search/label/Moto%20Guzzi) have a pair of new middleweight cruisers for 2016 - the V9 Bobber and V9 Roamer, both of which are powered by Guzzi's all-new 850cc transverse V-twin. Of the two, Guzzi say that the Bobber has "an altogether darker and more nocturnal soul. It has big tyres and a total black look." We suppose the Roamer is the pretty boy, while the Bobber is a bit more Goth. With both, Guzzi claim to have taken great care with the fit and finish, using more of high-quality steel and aluminium while reducing the use of plastic parts to a bare minimum.

Designed with inputs from the Piaggio (http://www.fasterandfaster.net/search/label/Piaggio) Advanced Design Center (PADC) in Pasadena, California, the V9 Roamer is the spiritual successor to the Moto Guzzi Nevada 750, is easy to ride and is equally at home on busy inner city streets as well as the highway. In true cruiser style, the Roamer rides on 19-inch (front) and 16-inch (rear) wheels, which gives it the correct 'easy rider' stance. And yet, it's a thoroughly modern machine, with a digital dashboard, a smattering of forged aluminium bits, and kerb weight of around 200 kilos.

The V9 Bobber, on the other hand, is a bit less classically elegant and is a bit more butch, riding on fat tyres (130/90 front, 150/80 rear) and going for a blacked-out look. "Even with these spectacular tyres and its distinctive design, the bike still provides exceptional riding pleasure and handling.Indeed, the V9 Bobber does not trade ridability for beauty. It also differs from the V9 Roamer with its more crouched and sporty riding position," claim Guzzi.

The new 850cc V-twin developed by Moto Guzzi (http://www.fasterandfaster.net/search/label/Moto%20Guzzi) for the V9 range uses a Marelli electronic fuel-injection system, and with 'double oxygen sensor' this and 'three-way catalytic converter' that, manages to be Euro4 compliant. With just 55 horsepower and 62Nm of torque, performance is never going to be earth-shattering, but with a soft clutch, slick 6-speed transmission and a refined shaft-drive set-up, the focus was smooth, seamless forward motion rather than rocket-boy histronics. Guzzis are anyway not known for that kind of stuff.
