Anniversaries are nothing to get all that excited over, unless of course you're a manufacturer with a history and track record as impressive as Yamaha, and in that case, anniversaries are actually kind of a big deal.

Yamaha knows that the big ones deserve to be properly celebrated, too, which is why for the remainder of 2015 and start of 2016, the manufacturer will be offering a total of eight on and off-road models in its 60th Anniversary yellow-and-black "speed block" graphics. Originally dreamed up by hot-rod and custom bike painter Rollin "Molly" Sanders, this is the same basic graphic that was made famous by Yamaha's US racing department in the '70s and '80s, used on various production models in the following years, and then used to celebrate Yamaha's 50th anniversary, too.

Just four of Yamaha's 60th Anniversary models technically fall in the sportbike(ish) category, but if you're in the market for either a new R1, R6, XSR900, or Super Ténéré, and would prefer a little history strewn across your fairings, then you're in luck, with each of those four models being offered up in the now-famous paint scheme. With just a slightly higher MSRP, of course.

Like anniversaries, the flashier paint and small bump in price may not be for everyone, but we'll let you be the ultimate judge on whether or not Yamaha's 60th Anniversary celebration was a success. To do that, scroll down and take a closer look at the various 60th Anniversary models, plus check out what those models will cost in comparison to their less-equipped counterparts. Then let us know, would you opt for one of these bikes over the ones with standard graphics?
