The KTM (http://www.motorcycle.com/manufacturer/ktm.html) RC Cup is returning for the 2016 MotoAmerica season with a seven-round schedule. As with its inaugural season, the 2016 RC Cup will offer young riders a chance to compete on race-prepped KTM RC390s.

The series is open for riders 14-22 who hold an AMA Superstock Limited license. Riders who already have a 2015 RC390 can race that machine in the upcoming season but KTM will offer mechanically-similar 2016 model year machines. The race bikes are based on the street-legal RC390 production bikes but with a number of modifications including a one-piece fiberglass fairing, adjustable handlebars, rearsets and levers (including lever guards), Akropovic exhaust, brakes from Brembo subsidary Bybre, fully-adjustable 43mm WP fork, and remote reservoir WP rear shock (also fully adjustable, including for length).

KTM hasn’t finalized the price for the RC Cup race bike but it will likely be the same as the 2015 model’s $9,999 price. According to KTM, the 2015 model’s pricing offers a savings of more than $3,500 compared to buying a production bike and the specialized racing upgrades on their own.

The tentative 2016 MotoAmerica KTM RC Cup schedule has six rounds with a seventh round to be added. The MotoAmerica season-opening round at Circuit of the Americas on April 8-10 is not included, as it will be held in conjunction with MotoGP, leaving little track time for the series. MotoAmerica is trying to add two more events and one of them is expected to host the seventh RC Cup round.

April 15-17 – Road Atlanta – Braselton, GA
May 13-15 – Virginia International Raceway – Danville, VA
June 3-5 – Road America – Elkhart Lake, WI
June 10-12 – Barber Motorsports Park – Birmingham, AL
July TBA – Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca – Monterey, CA
Sept. 9-11 – New Jersey Motorsports Park – Millville, NJ
