Searched the DIY, didn't find any information on pulling it off, I want to do a fender chop, but not sure if pulling off the entire thing is required or not.

do you have a bike that you've seen that you would like to copy? some methods require some disassembly, others don't.

Well the fella here seemed to do a proper job:

But pulled his off, however:

is another cut I could make, the link however seems cleaner to me, I thought it might expose too much to the elements, but after a second look it seems fine, so if pulling it off is the way to go, can't seem to locate a diy. Mind you I have done shimming to the carbs so I have at least taken off the fairings/gas tank/seat so I've gotten that far at least... just how do I get the fender off :p

lol... it's been so long since I've done mine, I forget. :p

take off the passenger seat and have a look around under there for bolts holding stuff on back there... that's what I did.. eventually, stuff will come off. :D

you have a pm

Take the tail section off and there are 4 bolts holding the fender on, I believe the tail light is also bolted in it...Its easy I did it a couple times becuz of illegal fender elim I had on there...Unplug you signals and everything..I sold my bike so I dont really have a reference anymore...But get the 2 tail section plastics off, look at the bolts disassemble and reassemble..

So you need to pull off the fairings in the back that surround the passenger seat?

Mike, I'm pretty sure you do have to take them off, but it's pretty easy - not too much to worry about - you'll be fine!
