WELSHMAN Chaz Davies has done the double at Imola after leading off the line from pole position whilst Jonathan Rea faced struggles and battles with team-mate Tom Sykes once again.

The weather looked like it was about to take a turn for the worst at the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino ferrari, but the second World Superbike race was declared dry. Davies stormed off the line with the two Kawasaki Racing Team riders battling for second as they left Davide Giugliano for dust.

Rea was under pressure with Davies powering on and increasing his lead. The reigning World Champion was able to hold it together and recover from multiple struggles to gain a large haul of points to help his title defence. Sykes, as per usual, was close behind his team-mate for the majority of the race, but was unable to make a pass.

Giugliano was the lead home rider on the second Aruba.it machine, and started from the middle of the front row to come home in fourth - an improvement on his Saturday result of fifth. Leon Camier brought more home glory for the host nation as the Brit rode his MV Agusta to another top 5 finish.

Alex Lowes fought his Pata Yamaha YZF-R1 up into the sixth after losing out to Camier. Jordi Torres, the Catalan Althea BMW rider, was out of the top ten at the start of the race, but managed to recover to finish seventh whilst the Honda duo of Nicky Hayden and Michael van der Mark finished eighth and ninth respectively.

World Superbikes will now pack up and set off to Malaysia for the next round at the Sepang International Circuit.
