I decided to merge my love of motorcycles with my love of aviation. With all the talk about indicated speed, due to the famous motorcycle speedo error, GPS verified speed, etc., I got to thinking we also need indicated air speed (IAS). So, I threw together a basic airspeed indicator (sacrificing my gas gauge for the space), a generic pitot tube, and another rather obvious tool ;). So I now have my choice of 3 different types of speed measurement to choose from!

Once again, I have the coolest bike in town.

Here are some pics (my GPS isn't shown in these pics).

That is TOO funny! :D You NEED to get an action shot at a certain speed as a comparison :D

ALSO, I'm watching "Back to the Future III" right now, and as soon as I looked at the picture, and then looked back up, there were similar looking gauges. Down here I see your gauge, and on BTTFIII, it's the gauge of the boiler temperature on Doc's train

You think? I thought that "rather obvious tool" would have given it away, if the pics didn't by themselves. It's called satire.

When I'm running a little late for work, I just have to hit 88MPH!

I actually bought one of those streamers from a pilot supply store to attach to my disk lock, but on the pitot tube.... that would be classic (and strangely functional for this mod).

A friend just pointed out that although the F.C. may give me the ability to have a "redo" in leaving for work on time, it would still drop me off at the same location.... a slight oversight on my part, but at least I will still have the opportunity to enjoy the ride.

Next, I will be hooking up heat to the pitot tube to prevent icing over. Unfortunately my little alternator will be overwhelmed by the power draw, so I will have to think up a solution for that.... perhaps I will use a Rolls Royce Allison turbine engine out of an old Bell helicopter. Jay Leno uses one on a bike, so I know it can be done.
