On a side note.. had 2 days of true world testing of the cupholder and Dunkin Donuts coffee.. big pass on both days... even on not so smooth roads.. I wouldn't make the run for the apex, but you can lean a bit with it... lol

I love it - greatly recommended over a backpack. It straps down nice and tight and I've never had a problem with it moving. I cross the back straps - the right strap connects to the left cargo hook and vice versa, and that seems to make it nice and solid. I'm not able to use it with my saddlebags, but that may or may not be a big negative. Also I'm on a new gen, so ymmv.

I have the Cortech. Took it out to my parents' house this past weekend, highway riding most of the way. Stuck like glue. Great bag.

It doesn't convert to a backpack though, and I'm not sure if you'll be able to fit 4 books. I've put 2 books stacked (about 1.5-2" each) and had some extra room though.

It was about $65 US plus tax. It is 23 liters in size, very easy to put on or take off the 250r, and is secure and safe.
It works very well, and I highly recommend it.

I have the cortech! Never had a problem! On my trip that I bought it for I wasn't thinking about rain but I packed the rain cover it comes with just in case. Glad I did! It poured and everything inside the bag was still dry!

RoadPak, the smaller sized one.

I got it for $60 at Royal Distributing, and it has a dual zipper system that allows you to extend the height by almost double if you have a larger load. It ties in using bungies to the two hooks on the bottom of the tail.

Not a well known brand, but it's treated me very well so far.

has a big problem. I went to strap it on the motorcycle, and I noticed that the bungee cord didn't seem to have quite the same tension. I examined the bungee cords carefully, and found one of them was cut partway through!

From looking at it, it looks like the outer layer either frayed away, or something sharp in the bag snagged at it and cut it.

Today I had to ride to work with a backpack (ugh) and I'll be visiting the hardware store for a better bungee cord after work today.

I use this same setup. Its about half the price of the Cortech and makes for a very clean looking, secure installation without lots of straps everywhere. It is very basic with only the large main compartment, but the included rain cover is attached and won't be lost if it happens to blow off.

an update.

I rode up to Hesperia, in the high desert, with this, loaded down with water, food, rum and some water. Driving up the freeway I noticed that it was sliding off. Stopped, straightened it up and hit the road again to notice that it was still sliding off. Stopped again, repositioned the bottle of coke that I had, and it stayed put. If you have one/get one, make sure it is balanced or it will start sliding off.

Scott, there are 2 zippers on the unit. One holds down the whole bag, when it unzips it allows you to access the top zipper for the containment area. You put your items in... lets go with shampoo bottle and chocolate bar... you then zip the top compartment zipper closed. Then pull the exterior zipper around and it pressures the items down and decreases the amount of extra non-filled space you ask about. I can put one bag of dog food in and it hold its shape without slippin around and still isn't really full. It never really sways no matter the amount you put in.... not enuff to cause any balance concerns. So no you need not always have it filled to use it.

I've had mine on the bike since I bought it in February 2009. Only take it off to wash the bike. If you are reefin at getting it on and off excessively or overpacking it and pulling the zippers tightly over it Im sure you could tear the fabric because it stretches tightly over the pillion seat then secured under the seat with 4 crossover velcro strips. I've not had a moment's trouble with the pack nor any "rippage" on the pack and I've double zipped many items tightly and the pack never disappoints me. One thing it doesnt do well is carry long items... I use the bungee cord I carry around for these needs. I like that it hides away and is there when I unexpectedly decide to shop and voila... I've got a bag... yay! :thumbup: I don't need to tuck it inside my jacket! Oh and it doubles as a padded pillion seat for 2 ups saves them from pressure sores on their butts...

I've been considering getting the Axio hardshell, but I can't seem to find it anywhere in the city and I'm hesitant to buy without seeing how it fits on the 250. Does anyone have it? I know someone here has the tank bag version, but I haven't found any posts on the tail bag.

I dry fitted that Axio at Cycle Gear before I got the Fast Pack... fits okay but hiking that foot over a "stiff boxed" tail bag can get a little iffy. I like the softer packs overall for that squishy capability. The Axio looked okay but I just wasnt sold on it. It does not sit flat as our pillions are curved and definately looked like it could rock around a little and would be an issue. So I put it back after the dry fitting. I will admit that it looked great on the Kawi N-650 because of the rear seating arrangement. Looked like it was part of the actual bike.

It's like they say, SE is the fastest colour... I have to add the tail pack to slow it down a bit for the Red/Black/Blue/Green riders. You know how it is :rolleyes:

My green bike is not a SE, but I have to put lead diving weights in my tailbag for extra weight when riding with Red/Black/Blue bikes or I become very lonely very quickly.:)

Fieldsheer expander tailbag. Pretty good - fits my XL scorpion helmet (which is the same shell as L and XXL). I dont like carrying a backpack, makes my back hot. I just stuff my backpack in there along with a pair of shoes and my liner.

I have one right now on my cbr125. it's perfect, although the material is flimsy and things will knock around if it's not packed tight. it doesnt bother me though. it's perfect for taking lunch to work, so the only thing i notice is sometimes an apple hits me in the back lol... but i dont lose anything. it's fine in turns even if things get tossed around... its secure back there. mine also doesnt have any tears.

The only thing that sucks about it is that the 250 is a different size and they're out of stock! I'm hoping that the seats arent that different and it will still fit, cause i dont want to give it up!

I find that strapping the two back straps to the licence plate frame (right behind where the licence plate screws in), and the two front straps to the passenger peg hole work best. When I used the hooks under the back blinkers (in the picture) for the back straps, the bag kept shifting up if I hit a bump...

Well, mine is cheesy, but I thought I would add my tail bag.

I wanted to run to the store and I don't feel comfortable with a backpack, so I went through the garage and looked for something I could possibly use for a bag to strap to the bike.

It turned out to work really well, but I will eventually get a tank bag because I really want the solo seat cowl:thumbup:

The bag is from an old portable DVD player. It has a few different compartments but the liner is velcro'd in and can be pulled out to make one big bag if I need to. I have a few small bungy cords to strap in down better if I am carrying a good amount of stuff. And when I don't need it, it fits right into the little cargo area under the seat.

Anybody got a picture of the Kriega us10 on an 07 or older Ninja 250? Think I am going to order one. Would love to see if it looks ok first........

Some pics from my ride with the bag. Please note that the bag expands to double its capacity and I could easily pack stuff that i need for a 3 day trip.

The tailbag is very sturdy and quality is very good too. Has a velcro strap that goes under the rear seat and also has another buckle strap that goes under the rear tail section to ensure the bag stays secured to the tail. Bungee hooks are provided on the bag and are of very high quality too.

The bag includes a rain cover, the zips are waterproof and as you can see there is a lot of highly reflective material on the bag as well which makes it safe to ride at night.
