"Fall foliage road trips are almost a national rite of passage — a quintessentially American combination of the outdoors and the automobile. For many, losing oneself in a landscape of riotous reds, profound purples, and outrageous oranges can be a quasi-religious experience."

I've been told that Virginia is simply gorgeous in the fall.

That story is garbage - it only has the tail-end of the BRP on there when anyone who's ever driven it knows that the VA end of the parkway has the most dramatic changes in the fall - simply breathtaking

I love autumn rides ... the Blue Ridge Parkway is so gorgeous in the fall ...
I'm going to arm myself with my Sony and go riding soon! Last year I went with a friend in his van (he's 74 and doesn't ride anymore), and we made a side trip to Mount Mitchel.
Well worth the trip for all the colors :)
