Heres a pic of mine installed I just thought I would share how mine came out. I really like the way it changes the look of the bike by filling in the empty rear section. It goes great with my 150/60 but I had to add a few washers. Everthing was pre-drilled and fit ok. Thanks to Matt (ztrack) for helping me get this product.

i really like the sportisi rear hugger...it covers the tiny rear swing arm of the 250..giving it a nice beefy appearance..very nice.

The rear hugger really changes the way the bike looks. Your photos have convinced me to get one myself. Thanks

Btw how hard was it to install the rear hugger?

ztrack157
September 18th, 2009, 12:00 AM
Typical install is about 30 minutes David. atleast for my bike it was about that long.

Anyone ever see a rear hugger on a 2009se? I wonder if I should get a black or green one?

ztrack157
September 18th, 2009, 01:38 PM
green would be nice to balance the bike out black would be a hole and not pop.

Hey patrick the tire rides and looks great. Thanks for your advice it was a perfect fit with plenty of room and a perfect combo with the hugger. Still need to get the front tire installed but im gonna wait til I get my wheels powdercoated:).

Im glad you liked the pics the install was easy except for removing and reinstalling the rear brake caliper. Its only 2 bolts but its a little hard to get to. Not a big deal though.

Michael,

Can you elaborate on adding a few washers? (can you take a pic of where you added the washers for clearance?) I'm getting a set of bt-016s (going with the 150/60 size) installed on Tues and I'm considering replacing my Scott's hugger for this one. Thanks.

Right were the red circle is on both sides between the hugger and the arm cover. I think I put about 2 or 3 on each side but I forgot. It was actually supposed to fit the 150/60 but maybe I did something wrong with the install. It looks fine like this though you cant even notice the washers

Heres a pic of the exhaust side. Whats good about the sportisi hugger is that you can see it on both sides when you get a bright color and the arm cover is equal on both sides as well. I know im just adding pics but when I was looking to buy this hugger I could never find enough pics.:)

shift, looks good. i think that hugger is one of the better looking ones on the market.

on a side note, imho that exhaust hanger kind of takes away from the looks of your bike.

have you seen this hanger? http://mysite.verizon.net/res7x2ni/exhausthangerninja250r/

zartan sells them. she is a member on this site.

^ or you can keep with the sportisi theme. But I think there is nothing wrong with what he has now. Why blow $70 or even $55 when you can have it your way for $5

I know what you mean. Im starting to think the same thing. I only made this hangar in preparation for the hugger that was on its way. I really wanted the hugger to stand out but didnt feel like spending too much on a hangar so I made a temp. which isnt too bad for the mean time but I will definately get a real hangar soon. (if ztrack has a sale or something....).

You *really* need to start making bundles! Bundle a hugger, fender eliminator or undertail, that exhaust hanger / peg eliminator, and an aftermarket rear seat cowling. I'd buy them all!

I plan on doing a track pack. which will be exhaust hanger, exhaust, rearsets, and clipons all in one price. other packs will come. but I need to start making money before I do that.

I'm thinking about the hugger, but how well will it fit if I end up moving to a larger rear tire, like a 140 or 150? I'm going to be putting some better track tires on and don't think i'll have much choice about moving up in size.

ztrack157
September 25th, 2009, 11:19 AM
It will fit them fine. Though with like a 150 you may need to throw in some washers for better clearance. I think a 140/70 shouldn't need any additional spacers.

How did you get your shift lever to be much lower than the foot peg? I bought Cycle Control rearset risers also, but my shifter is almost leveled with the foot peg... I'd like to to be 1 inch lower. It makes for uncomfortable shifting when it's so high.

^ he has an adjustable shift rod. If you do not then you will be unable to adjust your shifters position. If you do then adjust it.

OK, now I really need to hurry up and get this. I just lost a bolt on my chain guard.

It's always hard to tell in pics as opposed to in-person, so I'll ask... How is the paint match?

I often can't see the difference between CT Blue and CP Blue when looking at pics online (like the ones showing the wrong blue cowl installed on the other blue). I *am* certifiably color-blind though. ;)

It matches great. The only thing I noticed was that it wasnt as glossy as the original paint of the bike. I just gave it a waxing and since its under the tail theres no problem. (Unless your really picky)

Some question for anyone with one of these, as I'm seriously interested.

How does it affect the following
1. Lifting the rear on a stand. Looks like it goes over the swing arm on the top, I'm worried if i put it on a rear stand the bike would be lifted by the hugger and not the swingarm.
2. Lubing/Adjusting the chain. With the existing chain guard its 30 seconds to remove it and have a lot of visible chain to work on, how hard/easy is it to take off and put this back on.
3. Is the chain kept in a separate channel to the wheel? Or does it have to live with all the gunk that comes off the wheel.

After I figure all that out, I'll be able to decide if its worth getting a green one shipped to Ireland (€uro is not as strong as it was last week)
