At Bike-urious (http://feeds.feedblitz.com/~/t/0/0/rideapart/~www.bike-urious.com/), were spending all of our time finding the most interesting motorcycles that are currently for sale for you to drool over (and maybe empty your wallet for).
1. 1964 Aermacchi Ala Azzurra (http://feeds.feedblitz.com/~/t/0/0/rideapart/~www.bike-urious.com/1964-aermacchi-ala-azzurra/)
In 1960, Aermacchi released the 2nd generation of the Ala Azzurra, a touring variant of the arguably more famous Ala d'Oro/Ala Verde. Just 1,149 Ala Azzurra's were built, and much fewer are still in this kind of cosmetic condition. This example comes from a prominent American motorcycle collection that I've shared before on Bike-urious (http://feeds.feedblitz.com/~/t/0/0/rideapart/~www.bike-urious.com/art-of-the-italian-two-wheel/).

The Ala Azzurra utilized Aermacchi's 246.2cc well-known four stroke horizontal single motor - an evolution from the original 175cc unit. In this bike, the powerplant was good for 13.7 horsepower at 6,500 rpm. This was enough to get the 251 pound (dry weight) bike up to nearly 80 miles per hour. Power transfer was handled by a wet clutch, four-speed transmission, and chain drive.

This example (VIN: 212206) has 5,355 miles and while it has not been ridden in a year, the seller says it was running perfectly beforehand. Based on the rest of his collection, I'd be inclined to believe him. With that said, expect the perform the minor recommissioning that's required when a bike has been sitting - new battery, carb cleaning, etc. It does not have a US title but it will come with the specific US Customs forms required to get it registered. The seller originally acquired it and Rome and suspect that the bike was restored about five*years before he acquired it. It is in Aermacchi's historical registry.

This is one of his personal bikes (and he's recently raced), but now it's time for a new owner who will hopefully continue to ride it aggressively. This bike features a '53 frame with a '59 650cc motor. The engine has a new upgraded camshaft, new 10.5:1 pistons, and new rings. It was built by Gerald Jessup, who once had the Bonneville Land Speed Record for pre-unit Triumphs (http://feeds.feedblitz.com/~/t/0/0/rideapart/~www.kltv.com/story/8955961/72-year-old-jessup-sets-another-world-record). The bike is currently setup for TT racing. When Ducati evolved the Pantah 500SL into the 600SL, they also decided to offer a stripped down variant called the TL. The bodywork was significantly different, but it did not sell well and the model last just one year. According to the dealer that the seller bought this bike from, just 30 of these bikes were imported to the US.

The TL featured the same air-cooled 583cc, 90 degree V-Twin in the SL - good for 57-horsepower. Power was sent through a wet clutch and a five-speed transmission. As normally seen on 80s-era Ducati motorcycles, the braking was handled by Brembo and the suspension was taken care of by Marzocchi.

This example (VIN: 060143) is said to basically be brand new. It's never been driven and the battery has apparently never had acid in it. In 2002, Ducati released 700 examples of the 998R - it was their top of the line sportbike at the time and it featured a revised Testastretta motor that would end up being quite similar to the engine in the future 999R. Other goodies included carbon fiber bodywork and Ohlins suspension. This...is not one of those bikes. But thanks to an extensive modification list, it's similarly spec'd and might be an interesting option for someone who loves the styling of the 916/996/998 but wants something faster.

The seller started with a 998 but they've installed a 999R motor with 800 miles - thanks to a balance/blueprint it puts out 153 horsepower (almost 20 more than the original 998R). It also apparently has the World Superbike-spec Akrapovic exhaust from Pierfrancesco "Frankie" Chili's 998RS WSBK racer. Other high-spec components include Ohlins forks, Brembo race master cylinders, magnesium Marchesini swing arm/wheels, carbon fiber bodywork/front subframe/breather box, a Nemesis (http://feeds.feedblitz.com/~/t/0/0/rideapart/~store.commoto.com/ducati-nemesis-2-type-1-replacement-ecu.html) ECU/quickshifter, and more. Ecossee Moto Works was founded in 2001, and it took them 3 years before they were able to release their first bike - the Heretic. A few years later, they released another model called the Iconoclast in partnership with 20-ltd, an online shop that solely offers limited edition design pieces and photography. Just 11 examples were offered and they all featured exquisite craftsmanship around a two-liter V-Twin motor.

The giant twin motor is carbureted, and it produces 135 horsepower and 140 pound feet of torque. The frame is made of 4130 chromoly and it doubles as the oil tank. Nine pieces of hand formed carbon fiber come together to form the bodywork. It also features Ohlins suspension and dual six-piston ISR radial front brakes.
