Well, this was Renee's first trip up there and we had been looking forward to it the last few weeks. We have had rain here for the last several months non-stop it seemed and we were just hoping it would have a break for the weekend. We didn't see a whole lot of rain, altho we did get wet, but the cold moved in. Neither one of us was going to let that stop us tho .

We trailered up on Thursday night, getting to the cabin around midnight. We were staying in a friends cabin up on Carters Lake in North Central Georgia. It poured down rain most of the way up, which was about a 2-2 1/2 hour drive, but according to the weather, we would be good to go for Friday. Waking up the next morning, we found the temps had indeed dropped and the fog was hangin' around. We had to wait till about 11 AM to head out. After getting geared up, (luckily her new jacket and boots made it in Thursday), We pulled out and headed north up hwy 411 toward Chatsworth. We decided to ride on up to Crandall, Ga to grab a bite to eat before starting the long day. We came back down 411 to hwy 52 and headed east over the mtn. She indeed had her first test.....Wasn't long before we hit the fog again. It is about 25 miles across 52 to Ellijay of awesome road, lots of twisties, but with the wet roads and fog, we had to take it easy. Once getting into Ellijay, we picked up 76 and headed north up to Blue Ridge. 76 is primarily 4 lane and and pretty uneventful, but nice scenery none the less. It was about 15 miles or so up to Blue Ridge, then the fun was going to start again. We caught 60 heading south toward Dahlonega. Being it was Friday, there wasn't much of a crowd up there which was a good thing. We pretty much had the roads to ourselves as far as bikes were concerned. We made it down 60 to Suches and stopped for her first visit to Two Wheels Only Resort. After stretching and relaxing a little while, we decided to forego Blood Mtn and mounted back up to start heading back toward a warm fireplace and a cold drink:D. We took on down to Dahlonega, caught 9/52 heading west and made our way back toward Ellijay. My GPS died about the time we got into town and stopped for fuel, so we had to revert back to the paper maps......technology has ruined me.....I didn't want to cross back over 52, (well I did but felt like it was best not to) so we headed south on 382, then picked up 136 west back to the cabin.

All in all, we did about 160 miles of nice roads up there. Not bad for her first time considering we probably did maybe a quarter of it on wet roads and temps in the 50's. I have to say, she is hooked!!!!! The leaves hadn't turned as much as I had hoped, but if our schedules work out, we plan on getting up there the end of the month. I have a couple of pics from my cell right now, will get a few more up as soon as I get them off of the camera.

I wanted to head up that way, but I had agreed to do that poker run on Sat; also I need some more experience, as I just broke 600 miles ridden. I get more confidence on every ride, so I will definitely be heading to the mtns this spring.

Thanks for the write-up.

Nice write up. I'm sure it was a fun ride with great views. I'm glad she's got the bug.

Saw the pics from the ride you guys did. There will be plenty of opportunities I am sure to ride. Glad to hear the riding is going well. Same with Renee, she is gaining more and more confidence with seat time. We rode up to Athens from McDonough Saturday. Altho we are Vol fans....lol. Had a good time, altho it did stay cool and cloudy most of the day. Of course had to stop at the Varsity for lunch up there
