I really want to try some of those earplugs intended for musicians to see if it can block external noise and still allow me to hear my music/telephone headset kit, but I'm not willinbg to spen $35+ to find out. My hearing is so bad that I do not want to make it worse with all the wind/road noise just because I wanted to listen to a little music.

Oh, and it says no personal email accounts, so these are intended as commercial samples.

Would we get into any kind of trouble, if we were getting these for personal use?

Where I found the link to those earplugs, there was also a link for a 5 pack of disposable earplugs, but they wanted $1.67 for handling plus shipping ($$). Wasn't worth it. You can buy 50 pair at CVS for under $10.

No, but if your email is @hotmail.com or something obviously personal, they could easily turn you down.

Anyone know where I can get a brick of the same kind of memory foam earplugs are made of? Not that heat-reactive kind used in mattresses or pillows and not the Nerf-like foam that springs right back into shape too quickly.

Basically, I'm trying to get something that I can use to fill the speaker pockets in my helmets that will remain "squished" for long enough to insert my head but then expand and firmly push the earcups against my ears. As it is, my ears fold down when inserting my head and I have to use my glasses to correct it.

I already tried eBay and craft stores like Michaels and Jo-Anne Fabrics. The best option I can come up with seems to be to buy a bulk pack of earplugs and sew them together. :(

WHOOT! Mine came in as well. I remember that the shipment took a long time, so I tried to order another one and TO MY SURPRISE TWO CAME IN THE MAIL :p

EDIT; the plastic part is too long to fit in my helmet, how about ya'll, does it fit for you all?

Try www.mcmaster.com and search for "memory foam." They sell 5 different firmnesses. I got the selector pack trying to decide which one to use for a custom seat.

Man, I googled for weeks and begged for help (elsewhere). How did you find this place?! I can't thank you enough.

I built 4 cars using supplies from there. Plus it is close by so as long as I order by 4-4:30 I get the stuff the next day.

Lucky you (and, thusly, lucky me :D). This is EXACTLY what I was looking for... blocks/bricks of slow-recovery memory foam and the selector pack is just what I needed to take the guess work out of it.

I love love love these earplugs. I can insert them, even with gloves on, and the 29db reduction seems to be about right for cutting the noise without being stone deaf.

Has anyone tried to actually buy these? I have found 100 pairs for $60, but wow, that's a pretty large investment. Any links to purchase smaller quantities, or does anyone want to split a box?

I'll keep trying, and update this thread.

Thanks, LM

I wrote to 3M's customer service email, but no answer on where to buy.

Sorry for those who never received, but they really are a sweet pair of plugs. I guess I'll keep looking, or find something similar.
