What is the best out there for summer?
I was planning in ordering a pair of Icon Timax trx, but I think that's is going to be to much for summer.

I want something that protects real good but at the same time something breathable and nice for summer time.

All I can say is don't get the Joe Rocket pheonix gloves. Mine started to come apart days after I got them. However I sewed them up and have had nary a problem out of them since. They don't ventalate very good dispite being mesh on top, but they do work well at around 60 to 70 degrees though.

I've got a set of Icon Merc gloves and they seem to vent just fine. Anything with any preferation should work.

I am interested in this question. In east central AL, summer is VERY hot. these gloves ( ordered and they came yesterday) seem too insubstantial to offer any real protection from the road

I am thinking of sending them back for exchange, I am interested in a glove designed for HOT weather ( I have a semi ok cold weather glove already) that will keep my hands from getting busted up if I make a mistake / have bad luck while riding.

What is your budget?

Could be a bit more than 100 bucks, if is less much better. I was thinking about sidi Coibuss gloves.

I wear a pair of Castle Sport Mesh in the summer. Nice padding over the knuckle and general hand area. And have never felt overheated wearing them. Cost me only 40$ i think

I ended up returning stuff to new enough. There was no hassle, no question about why. The only question was cash or gift certificate.

they seem like "real MC gloves" that would make a difference if I took a spill. how they will be in the hot weather ... I think they will be hot.

I'm also in the hot south. I wear the Icon 29'ers in the summer. They are great. Can you guess how much they cost ? umm $29.00

Stay away from the Scorpion cool-hand mesh - when I had my incident, they might have come in contact with grass, but nothing more, and the seams totally tore out of them and it looked like they melted - stay far away!

I have been happy with Icon Superduty gloves and the Merc shorts, however I'm drifting over to the R.S. Taichi's which are light, easily flexed, and not bad in the pricing dept. Have 1 pr mesh, 1 pr leather/mesh hybrid and one leather pair that are great for Texas cooler days. Use liners in it when its cold out. The fit is great when ordering men's for a woman or man with smaller hands. Fingers less likely to be too long and bothersome and a nice snug fit all round.:thumbup:

Alpinestars are top of my list for my new summer gloves..

1) A* 3/4 gloves
2) A* Thunder gloves (new for 2010)
3) A* SP-X awesome protection but pricey)

It is really hard to put a price tag on "pain".

The price tag on "cannot work because my hands are messed up" is a lot higher than any glove I know of.

Repair surgeries can easily go to $10,000.

So I bought the best I could find, that are possibly wearable here in the summer. (A* GP+ have no ventilation to speak of, so not useable IMHO)

Think I got them for around $70 from either Revzilla or Motorcycle Super Store. The plastic on the back of some of the finger segments might be a little uncomfortable until they are broken in, Breaking in apparently takes a little longer than I have used them but getting there.

One thing to note... the shorty gloves do not provide the same level of protection as a full gauntlet glove. The gauntlet is supposed to wrap around you sleeves to help keep them from riding up and exposing your arm in a slide, no shorty glove will be able to do this. In an ideal world, all your seems will overlap including boots to pant cuffs, and gloves to sleeves. Jacket to pants needs to overlap and at least zip together to keep the jacket from riding up. A single zip in the back is what you normally get, a full zip is better or a single piece suit is best.

Nice gloves. Price tag :eek: ...and I thought my gloves were expensive.

I bought some Held Thrux, but the weather is not hot enough to say they are great ... but ventilation is fine so i expect to be okay with them this summer :)
