So I priced the piston rings for my bike at the local dealership, $40 for a single piston. Anybody have a better suggestion?

Okay, I went to their online microfiche and looked up my bike (2005 EX-250) and they want $34.30 per cylinder for a set of "0.5 over" rings. And the same price for "standard" sized rings.

So taking into account shipping costs, your dealer isn't really out of line. I don't think you've got a lot of choice on this item.

That isn't too bad.

I'm used to rebuilding car v8 engines. I'm sure the little 250 will be much cheaper. lol

The head and base gaskets aren't cheap either.

Go w/ your local shop as much as possible, usually the prices are close and it will keep them around to help you out in the future. As well as grease your local economy.

yeah, thats what i was thinking. Plus my cousin works there. He might be able to get me a discount.
