Rode out to hit GMR today with Adrian nice and early. We were at the bottom of the hill at the gas station at about 9:45 ready to go.
Started off on the crazy portion of GMR following Adrian up, then back down. Scraped my knees a few times here and there which was pretty fun cause it was my first canyon scraping run. I'll try not to abuse my new found powers.. for I can see how they could get you into trouble really quick!

Anyways, had a blast riding with Adrian again on the famous GMR! I can't get enough of that road. Wish I lived a bit closer! Here's some pics and some videos from today! Few of me chasing Adrian around then I got to be up front for a run! Tons of fun
We'll do it again soon mang!

Check back later for the videos! Processing them now.

I was riding the little ninjette on ice at one point! I could feel the tires slippin' all over the place.

Nice pics mang! We forgot to do an action photo shoot!

Here's some video!

First clip, we were warming up and heading uphill for the first time.
I dig riding behind Adrian for some reason. He always sets my pace well.

Here is a portion of our following downhill run gettin' a little quicker
1 scrape at about 4:16 first time on left knee lol

Here's when we turned around and Adrian handed over the lead!
Couple scrapes in there but you can't really tell when. I need a mic on my knee. lol

Here for some reason I felt in the groove. I was looking ahead and scraping here and there. Scraped Tiffani's hairpin corner!

 Wow--we look like we're not doing so badly around those turns~

I totally enjoyed watching us hit those turns....I see I gotta get my lean on as much as you do....need some real riding gear if I wanna be a knee scraper like YOU!!! :D

Thanks for the vids man----it was like I was there all over again.....looks like we had a lot of fun....I see why people come from miles around to hit GMRs 12 miles of twisties....:p

We will definatley do it again soon....I might just be up there Wed. after work!!

To be honest, I'm not sure :o
Had my eyes on the road.
I was trying to focus the most on looking as far ahead as possible. Kinda tricky!

Yeah stock 2010 SE paint. (and stickers)
I guess I got lucky on this one, haven't seen another around like it yet, but I'm sure I will as soon as I say that. I paid out the yang for it too. :p But I did have it 2 months before 2010.

They had the newer green SE with white bottom and no black (haven't seen one of those around yet either), my bike, the red one and a blue one.

It was either this or the blue..

Dex- depends on the turn and what turn was after that....each twisty has its own speed to it (+ -) 5-20 mph......some turns you could hit at 40 mph and some you just had to go 15-20 or 30.....it just depends on you as a rider and the road itself. Since it rained a week ago---there was a lot of dirt on the road and at times you'd see my hand come out to slow down or I'd just flat out take the turn with very little lean to it....no need to push it on a slippery road.....you need to come down and take a ride with us....it is worth it........

Andy--we'd love to have you man.....hit us up soon

Oh snap! I wholeheartedly approve of the owning of that turn  It actually looks sharper than I remember it. I need to get back out there in not too long so I can put that bend behind me for good.

On that note, that's some smooth riding from both of you. Looks like a great time, and your dual perspective sort of footage is always a treat, KC. You guys should have built a snowninja while you were up there to mark your territory (It's alright-next time, I'm sure :p).

Now that you've acquired the knee dragging technique though, I think you're gonna have to go to the track to really test it out :D

Tiff---believe me it is your turn....everytime I go by it I call it that....lol:D

How's your bike these days? I really had a good time racing up GMR with KC videotaping---kinda makes it exciting knowing you could see it later....

Tiff--when you coming back to own GMR?

Guys, I just RSVP for another GMR ride this coming Sunday if it doesn't rain! But you have to join and RSVP. The members who ride this club are the same as the one Adrian and I did last week up GVR! And you don't have to be Asian!

That sounds like it would be loads of fun. I'm sure I'll have to go try that at least once in my life. Kind of intimidating too. :D

Definitely wondering how your bike is doing! You get any keeper scars from that incident?!
I'd be hanging scratched pieces up for decoration.

Not sure if I'll be able to make GMR this Sunday.
Got the bike apart in 100 pieces again right now and half tore into a ball of wires from the harness!
Turning that sucker into nightrider's brother this time. lol She will have robot brains and be alive soon!

Haha- I've always wanted something named after me. Not quite the method I envisioned, but that'll do :p

My bike's in great shape save the battle scars (It's actually running better than ever since I opted to switch to synthetic oil while I had it on its stand). I didn't leave with any scars myself though, which oddly is disappointing and relieving at the same time. I'm holding out on my tax return to get the scratches repaired and get it painted, but I don't really mind riding around with my crash marks until then. Been asked for the story at nearly every bike shop I've been to since.

I was actually out in the canyons again by the next weekend, albeit much less intense roads and running a bit more skittishly. I'm still working on rebuilding my confidence on various wimpier canyons in Malibu right now, but I'll probably be out there to reclaim my honor before the end February

The track's probably safer than the canyons, even if more expensive. But that's my ultimate goal before the year is out- at least to see what it's like. We should go :D

Once I get a jacket to zip to my crazy pants I'm in. (will cost a few track days on it's own it seems)
Want to make sure my hips are covered up first.
I have a feeling I might push myself a tiny bit if I go to the track and will want to dress accordingly. All the rest of my gear should be ready to go.

We are lucky to live in Cali. It seems I will be able to get away with my leather pants year round even though they are vented and since I bought them one size larger to work over sweats! I didn't think I was going to be able to get my knee down in them to be honest. Kinda happy I can now so they don't go to waste.

At a track I think it will be much easier to scrape knee too, because you can see through the corners. They are much harder to judge when they are blind like up on GMR. My first scrape had to be done on an "open" corner so I could see through it enough to have the confidence to get that knee down. :)

IMO, the trick is to focus on your riding and the knee will come, just as Mike told me up on the hill. Worked great for me. When it all came together, my knee practically set itself down. I could feel it wanting to happen.

We should put together another GMR run for the group. Feb 21st would give us all some time to get it together. We could even throw a speed limit on the ride if need be. We didn't get any pictures of you in action last time Tiff! =\

I still have yet to try the front side of ACH too. Been through the back side to Blue Ridge but that was before the road went all the way through to the LA side.

I think I will hit GMR Monday since I will be off of work and the rain will--hopefully--have passed. Around 9 or 10 am.....

Any takers?:D

If I have my bike back together again, I am off Monday as well.
I'll meet you up there if I can, but don't think I will have the bike back together in time. Plus she will need to be broken in since I'm putting new brakes on and adjusting chain slack etc. Will have to do a couple hundred miles nice and mellow.
