What do you guys use for those hot days during the summer? This is the only thing I have to buy now to complete all my riding gear. I was going to buy the Icon Automag leathers, but I know I'm not going to wear them during the summer. So I'm looking for something protective and confi.

I understand that I'll be compromising protection, but knowing me I know I won't be wearing leathers during hot days. I have an Icon Timax2 leather jacket and I know I'm going to cook my self with it, so most probably I'll be getting something lighter for summer days.

Thanks guys/gals.

I went to the BMW/Triumph dealer the other day looking for pants and the lady helping me showed me the Rev-it! Turbine pants and jacket set. I didn't get to try on the pants but the jacket is now my dream jacket. It is so lightweight and cool feeling yet it still has the armor in it as well. Apparently they're also a dutch company so they make clothing for long-armed dutch like me! They're pretty expensive though.

Has anyone heard about this Sliders Kevlar Jeans. I been reading a lot of reviews today and it seems to be a great pant. I know is a jean, but is better than nothing.

As long as I'm doing 30+mph they're not too hot, but I'd rather deal with hot legs going slow than road rash so my opinion may be a bit tainted

I bought my leather Dainese pants barely one size larger so they work with sweats in the winter and fit a tiny bit loose when it's hot so I'm not stuck in them.

They have perforation venting on the leg top only above the knee.. I would not consider them winter/cold weather pants but I did buy them for thermals/sweats underneath. Now I can use them year round on a sunny day since I'm in Cali. They are vented well and air flows right through the top of your leg. I can see wearing them in 110*f. As soon as you start moving they cool off quick.

I don't ride in the rain if I can avoid it at all.

They fit so perfect hot or cold that I wear full leathers with sliders everywhere now. Feels a little funny walking around in a store but oh well. I get to ride a motorcycle all over and the people staring don't. :Twofinger:

These things are sweeeeeet. Felt the best at the store for me over everything else I spent hours trying on. I wear them at home now just chillin cause they're so comfy. lol Helps break them in too.

I should have bought some of these pants years ago. I'm glad I have them now for sure.

Are okay, not great, but okay.

I did have a low speed (<30mph) low side wearing them...they worked. The jean material has two quarter-sized holes which appeared over time, but they are tough.

I wear Tourmaster Flex pants year round. With the liners in the winter, and no liners, and panels removed in the summer.

I'm looking into Rev'it Mistral pants (there is a men's version and women's version). Click the link for a laaaarge pic. The mesh panels are huge.

Tourmaster Caliber pants (http://www.tourmaster.com/xcart/catalog/Caliber-Pant-p-173_4.html). I wear them sans the liner with shorts underneath in the summer (they are a bit hot but I go ATGATT). With the liner in or with jeans underneath they are good for the rest of the year. With the liner in they are quite warm.

You could try Motoport Kevlar Street Jeans (http://www.motoport.com/_product_35442/Kevlar_Street_Jean). From what I've read, Motoport offers great protection and the garments really breath well. They are a bit pricy.

I had the Caliber pants before the Flex, and they are way hotter in the summer, but with the liners in both, and the panels on the Flex, I think they are equally as warm in the winter.

I just wear jeans, my legs are going to look like something bad if I go down. Anything other than the ~2 miles around the small town area, I just wear the normal textile or leather pants.

I wear the leather pants, there fine on hot days just as long you don't stop too often or too long on hot days. I wore jeans once for a test run on the bike and my legs were so hot from the engine heat i will not do that again. Was thinking of buying a pair of textile pants but i haven't found one i like that are in my price range and figured that black would be too hot to wear on hot days.

Ouch! Where's the eye bleach!!

I bought a pair of Motoport Ultra II Kevlar mesh pants. I can throw them on over a pair of shorts and be very cool and completely safe at the same time. In the past I have wasted a lot of money on riding pants that weren't very safe or comfortable. The Motorport stuff is simply the best. Their guarantee is very good too.

I was going to buy a Rev It jacket and pants, but by the time I added it all up I was in the realm of a custom 2 piece leather suit. Ended up with the Tourmaster Flex2 jacket and Flex pants, but only owned them since November so I can't comment on hot weather. They will be fine for commuting to and from work, but I think I would want something a little more form fitting for high performance riding.

i finally got my rev'it turbine pants...they have the knee armour, which none of my other pants have...they also have some hip padding and a removable liner...i know that my turbine jacket lets so much air come through, it's like i'm not wearing a jacket...i'd imagine the pants are the same

Seriously, all of those that live in high humidity or high heat (like I do) really need to look into "phase change vests". My husband and I have been wearing them for at least 5 years now. We can't go riding in the summer without it. We have posted this before and for some reason people just say it's not needed. But if it keeps coming up that heat is an issue maybe then there is a need to buy one and see for yourself. I have been told that some racers at Willow Springs use them but I don't know that for myself. And we all know that Willow Springs gets very hot!!

+1 I have a friend who has one of these and I'm going to try and get one before the hot Texas summer hits. She wears it under her jacket and says she stays nice and cool.

I'm currently wearing Icon Automag pants for the summer. Its leather, but I feel safer in this more so than the Icon Arc Mesh pants that I tried on.

I bought a pair of these recently.

A really nice looking pair of pants in my opinion.

They fit very snug in the waist and seat compared to my JR pants.

A good compromise between ventilation and protection, again my opinion.

I have the Fieldsheer 4 season Mesh pants for warm and cold weather. With the liner in I have ridden as low as upper 30s/lower 40s comfortably (hands is another issue). And without the liner and shorts underneath they're a lot cooler than the shift jeans I have. I took the knee pads that came with them out and use the Icon knee armor instead. I just throw them over my khakis I have to wear for work when I commute...

FirstGear HT Air 2.0. Mesh like outside, with a windproof/waterproof liner. Wore them in 30F weather with just jeans on under with the liner and was warm.... wore them on a 80F day with shorts on W/ liner and was fine. just unzipped the side a lil to get some ventalation. In warmer weather I'll prolly take the liner out and at that point they are mesh with armor and great ventalation.

Scott - how is the sizing on those pants if you wear them over something else? Did you go with your size or up one? I have cold weather pants but want something breathable for the hot summers.

I wear bicycle shorts with ICON Arc pants in the summer. When it gets cold a pair of flannel lined jeans work well under the ICON arc pants.

I have these pants also. With the liner zipped in, after a 3 hr constant med-heavy Rain my legs stayed dry!

Hot summer days, sitting at a light or lots of stop and go along with the black color makes for hot pants (like all others out there) until you get moving, then airflow is pretty good.
any high end high air flow pant STILL will still give ya that Swamp ass feeling...unless you stand up on your footpegs often to get air flow through yo ass! lol :D

Only problem with these pants are the Knee Armor! Im 5'9" and the lack of a huge range of knee armor adjustment Sucks!

If i ride anything longer then just to and from work (10miles) then ill also wear my * *Knox Armor Knee Guards!
BTW those things are very comfy, fit great! I wore them like 11 hours and when i finally got home, took them off, my skin wasnt sore or anything like that!

The sizing was spot on on those pants (fieldsheer 4 season mesh), I'm about 5' 10'' and have about a 30 waist and these fit good. I got the size small (30). With and without the liner they fit over my work pants. There are Velcro adjustments on the waist as well . It seems they might have discontinued these last year, I dont see them on motorcycle superstore anymore. You might want to take a look at these (http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/1/1/40/22234/ITEM/Fieldsheer-Titanium-Air-4-0-Mesh-Pants.aspx), they seem similar to the ones I have (except theyre only in black).

Are those silver colored Fieldsheer mesh pants easy to clean if you get something on them? They would probably be cooler in the 90 degree weather down here than the black color, and they look pretty well vented for air flow.

I cant comment on cleaning, I haven't had to clean them yet... The tag on the inside says the inner liner can be machine washed but the outer cannot. To clean the outer it says use a sponge and hang to dry. Yea the silver color probably doesn't absorb heat from the sun as much, thats why I got that color. There are mesh areas below and above the knee, and on the back of the leg from mid-thigh down...

As for pants, I have a few different types, but I don't really like any of them. I always feel like I'm wearing ski pants. I mostly just wear jeans. I do have a pair of draggin jeans which are pretty nice IMO. Probably not in the "stylish" department, but then seem to be built very well, and are comfortable. Of course, I haven't really tested them out yet. :p

Those Kevlar Jeans look interesting... For a summer jacket I'm using the Dainese Air G w/ the added back protector.

I just bought my first Aerostich bit of riding apparel. I got the Darien pants in grey.

http://www.aerostich.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/5e06319eda06f020e43594a9c230972d/1/5/155_5d_1.jpg

They don't have a heavy lining, so cold mornings require thermals. I haven't ridden in heavy rain, but light showers don't penetrate at all. I've ridden up to the low 80's so far with no complaints regarding heat. They're not flashy, but really comfortable and seem built to soak up more miles than anything I've ever owned. Can't wait for an excuse to but the Darien jacket.

http://www.aerostich.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/5e06319eda06f020e43594a9c230972d/2/6/260_1d_2.jpg

I think that they will do fine for summer riding. I rode for two years with black JR Ballistic pants in Texas. For really hot days, I'll keep my grey Tourmaster mesh pants.

Everything looks better in black, but the Texas summer sun disagrees and I've given in after a few years of everyday riding...
