After my lowside yesterday ( http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=37527 ) and reading about dkstariob getting rear ended ( http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=35646 ). I started to think what else could I do to prevent injuries during a wreck.

I'm not sure I'd wear a racing collar and leathers with a huge racing hump are a bit much for the street. What about this vest from SaferMoto (http://safermoto.com/index.html)?

A bit pricy at $339 but I think it could prevent injuries in a wreck and it even comes in a high-viz version.

The vest / jacket connects to your bike with a lanyard. If you crash and get thrown from the bike the lanyard is pulled inflating the airbag. Here is a video (http://safermoto.com/media/SaferMoto_Hi_speed_keybox_test.html)of the vest being tested.

They are great ideas, the lanyard system apparently works well, its strong enough not to go off accidentally if you forget to detach it and walk away from your bike. Hit-Air (http://www.eggparka.com/english/main.html) have a few similar products also that seems to get good reviews in the UK bike magazine.

The have some nice vids showing it working and how to hook up to your bike

I seriously hope some moron doesn't legislate this into a requirement, I don't want stinking air bags in my car, don't think I want to be required to have them on my body on my cycle.

So has anybody on these forums actually bought a hit air jacket yet? I'm really interested in one. I've seen the vests, I think the full jackets would be much better. In the specs they say the inflate in less than a second, but after watching some of the videos it sounds as if after the guys' laying there on the ground it still inflating? or is deflating?
