Hey guys and gals!

I'm just wondering what people are using for race tires on their 08+ Ninja 250Rs. I don't want a street tire that is okay for track days. Anyone running slicks?

Any info would be appreciated!

Bunch of threads on this out there, search on "tires" in this subforum and you'll likely find what you need. Short answer, BT-016's, BT003S's, and leftover BT-090's are some of the most common ones used.

Thanks, but I've tried that already. Didn't get the info I wanted.

BT-016s are street tires. I'm looking for a proper race tire, preferably a slick.

Have you tried these threads?

Maybe there should be a tire thread sticky in this section with a list of all the tires mentioned in the threads. Might be helpful for people new to this forum.

Yup. But I'm looking for info on slicks if anyone has found ones that fit the 250.

The problem with slicks is the size. Most racers here run the best dot race tires they can get their hands on. To date it has been the Michelin Power Ones. The 090's are a very popular tire here and over seas as well. The 003rs is gaining popularity. Dunlop is bringing their DOT race tire for the 250 over sometime this year.

My racers run the 003rs and the power ones to date.

Michelin Power One is the best in my experience. Why would you want to run slicks? What class would you be running in? I'm guessing that 125GP tires might work. 250GP tires are too large. I should go out to the garage and check the slick sizes on my RS125...

From what I noticed, 125cc slicks are too small & 250cc are too large. < rears

I tried out some Bridgestone 003 race tires this weekend(other bike), type 4 & type 3. There better than any Michelins I ever ran. < New personal best outta them too.
Not sure how small they make the rears in the type compounds. The RS's might be worth a shot.

Rich are you using the B compound in the rear?

I forget... is that the soft or medium? I ran 2 sets of the softs, but destroyed them in 4 sessions. Running the med compound now. Its holding up much better.

Thanks guys. I will take a look into the Power ones. 003s are hard to get in Canada, 090s are all but impossible. Not crazy about the BT016 as they are more of a street/track day tire.

Hmm... looks like I'll be trying out the BT003's. Can't wait to get my Ninja on the track!

If running the P1's you gotta jack up the rear and drop the front quite a bit, but they are great tires.

The only thing is they aren't paying any $$$ here in TX. So we switched to Stones.
