I was lurking on Webbikeworld yesterday and read a review (http://www.webbikeworld.com/r4/teiz-motorsports/tioga-camino-jacket.htm) of the Teiz Motorsports Tioga and Camino Jacket which the reviewer really liked.

Jumped over the the Teiz webpage (http://www.teizms.com/index.php?osCsid=2dlu7k43s2bhlm2m4ps4mgr1h7)and found a nice range of rider wear in leather and textile that is really reasonably priced.

Navigated over to Advrider.com and searched for Teiz and found a huge thread (http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=433219)about this business and most folks were very positive about the gear and the customer service.

Might be worth checking into.

The textile suits look great and seem like they would make for a good touring style suit priced comparatively to other suits. The Alcatraz concern for someone of my size would be the loose fitting nature of the suit and how well the placement of the armor is.

This is why for someone of my stature really the only option is a custom race suit, off the rack I need a US 36 which is hard to find. That being said for a lot of you normal sized people these suits may be a great alternative to a compression style sport suit.

And Im jealous of that guy with the Daytona, the seat comes near the top of my hips (that dude has to be like 6 ft, lucky bastard)

Cost me $50 in shipping to determine that they do not at all fit me even after numerous emails including measurements. I was assured that it should fit and the only way to find out was to buy it. Had it on for all of 10 minutes and stuffed it back in the box. Took two weeks and two reminders after the tracking showed the package returned to get my purchase price refunded. Can't say I'm entirely happy with the company. Lots of happy people, but I must say I am not one of them. Their pricing on custom work is outrageous to the point where you can get a nice Bates (only custom suits), or AGV, or just about any other manufacturer.

I went with a Tourmaster off the rack long/tall sized two piece and am much happier, especially since I didn't need to send it back!

Spartan custom leather seems like a very good choice and will probably be my next cycle garment purchase for a good racing 1 piece suit, but probably not for another year.

That's definitely one of the problems with Teiz, they have no storefront. The second generation textile suits are supposed to be much more accurate regarding fit. I tried a couple on at the San Mateo Motorcycle Show and the Medium fit me really well (I'm 6'1" 160#). I still want crash reports before I spring for one but they do look nice.

Their gear is more touring oriented and cut "relaxed" or even loose. I'm not sure that I would trust that feature in a leather suit. The textile seems a bit tighter and adjustable.

For a track/sport suit I highly recommend Spartan Leathers (http://www.spartanleathers.com/). I have one of their suits (Elite) and love it. I even met Dave, the owner, in Indiana on my summer long trip. He kindly took my measurements for the suit and checked things over pretty well. He's a very nice guy. Here's pictures of my suit. What really sealed the deal was that the sleave and leg cuffs on the Teiz were nothing short of HUGE! Good if you wanted to put the legs over your racing boots, but there isn't a gauntlet glove on this planet that would fit the bulk of the sleeve cuff, it was as big as my pant leg. Each alteration was going to be $XX so it just added up to stupid. Would have been OK if the guy said that I would probably need a bunch of custom work for anything he had to fit and it would be $XXX, but he lead me on to believe that the standard suit would fit.

The only way I would recommend one of these suits is if you can go to one of the few shows and try it on, then buy it at the show to make sure you get what you tried. My off the rack Tourmaster isn't perfect, but it's a lot closer to where I don't mind the slight oddities. It was also a little cheaper and came with free shipping from one of many resellers so even if it didn't fit well enough I wouldn't spend as much returning it.

Spartan was supposed to be making a textile suit, not sure if that ever came into production or not. It was going to be a mostly custom thing too, but the price was right in line with other off the rack stuff.

Hey there! Blinkerfluid is actually my Fiance. He loves the Alcatraz for touring. It's really nicely made, heavy duty feeling suit. He actually realized that he doesnt like leather and is trying to sell it so he can get the Lombard textile suit. I'll see if I can get him to sign in and post a more elaborate review on it.

I'm actually in the process of ordering a custom suit for me. I've been impressed so far about how he's gone out of his way to make something work for me. I really want a one piece touring suit for the convenience, but Aerostich said 'no way in hell'.. I'm 5'3" about 125#... Hopefully it all works out. Will post pics when/if it gets done.

When I started talking custom pricing, it was getting to be about $1000 by the time the 5 or so alterations were made. I could almost buy 2 Spartan suits for that. Maybe they changed things and if so maybe he should have contacted me to see if I still needed a suit to at least try and make up for the wasted money in shipping.

Yea that's my Alcatraz suit above.. I like it, but decided I'd rather have the textile version (Mostly bc I'm getting a big dual sport and a leather 1 piece might be a bit goofy on that bike).. Anyway, the leather suit has all the same fit adjustments that the textile suit has (except for the neck closure).. Armor is pretty large and well placed and I don't have any worries about it moving if I take a spill.. The suit has full length shin and forearm armor along with the knee and elbow pads, shoulder armor, and back protector (all CE approved).. I'm sure the armor won't stay in place quite as well as it would in race leathers, but then this is a touring suit and not a racing suit.. I had a Rev'it Cayenne pro 2 piece suit before my Alcatraz and the Alcatraz armor is definitely more substantial.. One of the big things I didn't like about my Cayenne pro pants was the knee armor was small and always ended up on the side of my knees.. Underkill had a pair of Rev'it Mistral pants and the armor in them was much more substantial than what was in the cayenne pro pants.

Anyway, The cuffs are kind of large and are designed to go over your gloves, however I have a pair of Olympia goretex winter gloves with full gaitors and have no issues with getting the gaitors over the suit cuffs.. I also have a set of electric gloves with gaitors and can get the gatiors over the cuffs on them as well.

My suit has waterproof leather and the TFL cool coating.. The suit vents very well, and I don't think I'll have any issues using it over the summer if I don't get the chance to sell it.

The suit is super convenient to wear, takes me about 30 seconds to put it on and probably half that to take off.. I usually just wear jeans and a t-shirt under it and can step in and out of the suit with out too much trouble while wearing my Sidi Canyon's.

As far as custom suits go, we were told in an e-mail yesterday, "The cost for a custom suit is an additional $100".. We'll verify that though.
