If at all possible before I buy my gear online I try to check it out at a local dealer or find a dealer out of town that carries it and have a good excuse for a long ride.

You usually get what you pay for.

How many girl friends do you have?

Cheap motorcycle gear should be researched extensively... Ask her to ask herself how much is her head worth?

I've never heard of Hawk and I don't see much information on them over the internet either. Honestly though, I don't think she'll want to be the one to find out how effective it is or isn't. Not only that, but I would never recommend blind buying a helmet model that she hasn't been able to personally try on to see how it fits.

If you just can't make room in your budget for a pricier helmet but still want some quality, I've know a couple people who swear by Scorpion's helmets. I've never owned one myself (I love their other gear but their helmets just don't fit my head shape) but it might be worth it to try one on and see how it works for her. I know Sportbike Track gear is also clearing out last years graphics for the EXO-400:

Or you can get an HJC helmet for as cheap as $60 at motorcycle superstore:

I don't know how insistent she is on pink and froofy designs though, but those are just a few examples of internet deals. My point is, you can get some nice, brand new, name brand helmets on the cheap if you scour the internet far enough and don't mind getting last year's paint patterns. I wouldn't ever skimp on head protection, but an on sale quality helmet is still a quality helmet. Webbikeworld.com (http://www.webbikeworld.com/Reviewed-motorcycle-products/Products.htm) has some pretty in depth reviews to make shopping a little easier, but just be sure to try on any helmet up for consideration at a local shop or something before placing an order for anything.

I've been kind of considering the bluetooth version of this:
http://www.revzilla.com/product/vemar-ckqi-helmet

Get the chin bar and it is a full face helmet. This was a $400+ helmet that has been discounted, webbikeworld gave it decent marks, and it comes in pink.

It also looks kind of like a bug!

The internal shades is a great feature! I use it all the time on my Shuberth.

That place is also a wholesaler:
Myleather.com will not ship without Valid Resellers Number and Minimum $300 Order

My friend bought a Hawk helmet from a different website because it only cost $30. Seems like trash to me. The inside material is very scratchy and the straps are, for some reason, so short that it takes about 5 minutes (and a heap of frustration) to put on.

I guess if you think your girlfriend's head belongs in the trash then go for it!
