After getting back in the saddle after 20years raising kids and all that nonsense  I want to thank all the posters for all the great tips in this section! A very quick summary of the ones I have found most helpful in getting me back in the swing, in no particular order:

Loose grip on the bars
Tighter grip on the tank
Elbows bent
Body loose
Some weight on the pegs (like making the bike move with more weight on one peg or the other!)
Shifting and breaking threads too much to get into but good info!

Thanks from an old newbie!!

may I suggest you read some good books, too?

Twist of the Wrist 2 by Keith Code (http://www.webbikeworld.com/books/twist2.htm) and More Proficient Motorcycling by David Hough (http://www.webbikeworld.com/books/more-proficient-motorcycling.htm)are 2 of my favorites. :)

Everyone on this board is so great so glad I found it!

After reading this thread, I evaluated my own riding, with regard to the following:

Loose grip on the bars
Tighter grip on the tank
Elbows bent
Body loose

I failed all, pretty much, so I've been working on them. Soooo, +1 for the thanks!
