Did my first track day this weekend. It rained. It rained when I did my MSF, it rained when I brought the bike home for the first time, I guess its fitting it rained for my first two wheel foray onto the track. Despite the wet - it was awesome.

I may give it a try on the new bike after it is broken in. :)

You should, its a blast; and about the only sane way to really let a bike as capable as a 10R breathe

Is the ZX6 your main/only bike? If so, how was it taking it to the track? I am super nervous about going to the track and crashing my brand new bike. I really want to go. So much so, that I got a track package that gives me a couple of days on the track and training. As you can see, I haven't used it yet. I just don't want to crash my beloved because I pushed too hard or didn't lean enough.

Well I am actually glad you asked. Honestly I was super nervous at first, but it was pouring rain. I really think that it added to my concern alot. It is my only/main bike, and the thought of stuffing $10K (I had just paid it off a few months before going) was fresh on my mind.

However, once I got out on the track (especially when it stopped raining) 90% of that concern went away. While the amount your pushing the bike is high, to me it felt way way more safe around the track then it did on the street. 100% concentration (or all $10 in Keith speak) can be spent on what your doing with the bike. Now every once in a while when I got over zealous and the rear of the bike started swinging out because of the wet, the concern came rushing back, but it quickly subsided.

That being said, in the future I will do once of two things: buy a track specific bike, or turn my 6R into a track bike and get something more comfortable for the street.
