Test rider Yoshikawa To Replace Rossi For Three MotoGP Races

Yamaha MotoGP test rider Wataru Yoshikawa to fill-in for injured Rossi. (http://www.sportrider.com/news/146_1006_motogp_test_rider_yoshikawa_replace_rossi/index.html)Although it was already suspected from the beginning due to the recent MotoGP rookie rule that requires them to start with a satellite team, the Fiat Yamaha factory squad announced today that Yamaha’s veteran Japanese test rider Wataru Yoshikawa will fill in for the injured Valentino Rossi at the next three events. The team is provisionally planning for Yoshikawa to ride at Catalunya, Sachsenring, and Laguna Seca, but much depends on the progress of Rossi’s recovery from the broken leg sustained in a practice crash at Mugello. Rossi’s bike and pitbox at the recent Silverstone MotoGP were silent and empty except for one of his bikes sitting on a stand, and the team would probably prefer it that way until he returns, but contractual obligations with Dorna and sponsors require that the bike be on track for the majority of the season.
