View Full Version : Picked up a Honda
k-os August 27th, 2010, 07:11 PM My dad and I went in halves on a 1988 Honda Hawk 650 GT today for $2500. Only has 6600 miles. Don't worry. I still have my Ninja.

Was originally going to get a 2000 Ducati 748, but the service cost scared my dad off.
almost40 August 29th, 2010, 08:59 AM 650 GT's are great trackbikes. ENJOY.

capt_bugaloo August 29th, 2010, 02:11 PM Those are great bikes - too bad Honda stopped bringing them in. There's a grey bike importer in Vancouver who sometimes brings them or their little brother the 400 Bros in often. They are a sharp looking bike.
k-os August 29th, 2010, 02:25 PM It's been pretty nice so far. It definitely needs new tires though. I checked the date code on the rear and it's from 1993 and has cracking between the treads. I really want to get some clip-ons for it but my dad likes the risers, although I'm not sure how much he'll really be riding it.
backinthesaddleagain August 30th, 2010, 08:25 AM Love that single sided swingarm. Like the Hawk, 919, the GBR500. All 3 are really cool Hondas.

Yikes! 17-year old tires?? I wouldn't want to ride it any further than the nearest motorcycle shop to get some new tires!

Yeah I'm thinking soon I'll take the wheels off and have a friend help remove them and see what kind of tires the local bike shops have.
k-os March 10th, 2011, 08:48 PM Thought I'd maybe post some updates to this. If anyone's interested they can follow the build here (http://hawkgtforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=21561).

It was great fun to rev that little 400cc engine up to 14k rpm with that Pipe, it sounded like a GP moto.
Alex March 11th, 2011, 06:36 AM Neat bike!
backinthesaddleagain March 13th, 2011, 08:15 PM A collector of high end Italian bikes has a couple hondas in his collection, one is a CB1 - cool bike. The other? RC30, even cooler.
pathfinder March 20th, 2011, 05:58 PM That is one cool bike!
