The headlight was one of the main style features of the bike i didn't like so i thought of ways i could change the look for cheap and decided to put headlight mesh over part of the headlight to get rid of the cyclops look. i bought the scraps of an EFX headlight sheet from someone one eBay for $5 shipped.... here's how it turned out. http://lh4.ggpht.com/_8GbuXOR7zac/TJfGGr5y8YI/AAAAAAAAADw/JROGK3jK-dg/s1024/bf.jpghttp://lh6.ggpht.com/_8GbuXOR7zac/TJfGpbydVSI/AAAAAAAAAD0/sPzduDXBXGQ/s640/100_2018.JPGhttp://lh4.ggpht.com/_8GbuXOR7zac/TJfGqPMAmXI/AAAAAAAAAD4/svZ9_IDsJjQ/s640/100_2021.JPG

Let me know what you think

Looks great! It's kinds what I was thinking when I made this thread:

http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=29273

I think it could be made better with some color-matched paint and a double-bubble windscreen. Here's my old mock-up:
http://www.ninjette.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=4158&stc=1&d=1253209107

That makes it look much more like a modern upper/front fairing. Of course, the mirrors still need to be changed and a cowl-line seat cover should finish off the look!

Oh, can you put someline breaks betweenm your images? It's making me needlessly scroll horizontally.

While it may 'look' good, you're seriously affecting your night time lighting. This is due to the refractor housing to have to deal with all the light that is being returned by your tape. You also risk a citation, day or night, unless your tape is stamped DOT or SAE.

true to an extent. i've been pulled over so many times i can't even count, and everytime in my datsun Z my headlight covers have never been mentioned, day or night. it depends on the cop and the locale. if your in L.A. then ya, the popo is on top of their game in the city of angels. however, where i live, it's total redneck ville. i got pulled over for riding my pocketbike, when i asked what was wrong doing this, the officer replied " i don't know the law on motorcycles, but i bet it's illegal" (it is.... checked.) like i said, it depends. cops don't know bikes like we do, they know the basics.

I see your point M so i decided to measure how much area the mesh covers the headlight and say 90% of light is making it out where the mesh is (the mesh advertises 5-10% reduction of light). the number i got was 92.3% this number could be less because of how the light reflected back in (its black of the back but i bet it still does) or more because when the low beam is on the main beam of light seem to not be where the mesh is.

I upgraded my bulb to a silverstar a while back. the web site states up to a 35% increase of light out put so at the maximum output 124.6% light would be exiting the light. i know this is the max but if the silverstar is at lest 8.34% increase of light output i am operating at at least 100% of a stock light. I'm aware there are more variables effecting this and my numbers could swing both ways but i was curious and decided i needed to weight the facts

as far as legal go Its not..... "All head lamps will be inspected for and rejected if: s. Head lamp is covered by any lens or cover located in front of the head lamp which is any shade or color other than clear." ..... but when the headlight is on you can not notice the mesh so until i get a ticket i think I'm going to keep it.

I replaced my cars headlight and was, reading the bulb packaging and noticed the increased light output claim. Kept reading and noted that they compared the light output to an old, worn bulb (which emits less light vs a new one) so actual light output may not be as high as you think. Just food for thought.

first time up loading a pic bare with me and sorry for poor quality i hope you get the idea this is what i think i may do with my ninja. I do have a question what did you use to get the mesh to stick to the light or does it peel off and stick to the light?

I'd say a mix of the two. Something more like the current-gen. Like a small, centered, triangular wedge on the bottom, an angled center on the top, and soft edges (the current-gen has angled fairing top corners but curved headlight enclosure at the same time).

Yeah I've seen it numerous places for 22 plus shipping. I was hoping to find it a little cheaper though since i probably will only use a small amount of what comes with that.
