i want that yamaha :(

a friend has a 450 in good condition (forgot the year), but without legal papers, and he was offering to sell for about 5000~6000 buks. ya, even second hand bikes here are still rather expensive.

if it had the legal papers to be able to ride it on the roads, i would have probably bought it already...

but its totally insane to get papers made without spending a fortune, on imported bikes! they make you pay a 100% tax on the bike as if it were brand new, to legalize an imported bike. so even if this bike were from 2004 or something, they would charge me the same amount that it would have cost to buy the bike new in 2004 as tax, on top of the 5~6 grand for the bike itself.

seriously no brains in that government department...

Yeah, motos in the corner are fair weather rides, they are winterized during the winter months.. they will come back to life soon.

Or if anyone is interested in a 2004 Yamaha WR450F with dirt and supermotard wheels for $3500, PM me for details:

what a beast of an engine block.

have fun tinkering with it!

Because they can.
It's a FI 250cc that has spoked supermotard wheels and suspension to match. IMO, way overpriced.

Surfing through local Craigslist, found this 85 K100 w/22k mi. for sale at good price. Showed up to take a look, seller was tired of people calling but never show up. Battery is dead, jumped it with a car battery and fired it up. Talked some more and made a deal under $2k. Bike came with side cases, spare ECU, hall effect sensor, windshield and aftermarket rear shock.

For a 25 year old bike, it's not in too bad of shape.

Tires are 4 years old, but has plenty of tread..

Brake lines are OEM, I should look for some replacement ones ASAP..

Brakes squeal like mad when close to stop.... but quiet when you get on them hard at speed..

Riding it feels like steering a Mack truck engine, you're really "on" the bike rather than "in" the bike. But it does run pretty smooth.. no odd shaking or vibe..

Shifting is a bit rough, likely need a spline lube... that's gonna take a few weeks.

State inspection sticker is good until May 2011, maybe I'll ride it around until then before tackling the spline lube.

I'm getting myself a vintage license plate..

Finally picked up the SV650S, transport it home, got to examine it little closer.
The header of the 2-Bros exhaust is rusted at the weld joint, not sure if that something fixable or I might need to source some replacement headers.
Shift lever has been fixed by way of home mechanics.. drilled through the broken lever and replaced with a screw & nut.
Valves are ticking quite loud at idle, could be loose, that would explain the easy start when cold. Overall, not too bad for $1500

i would have bought it in a snap for that price, if it has the full registration/papers.

also always liked the SV look, kinda like a bike with full sports farings that didnt quite get all the farings on before getting shipped out of the factory, hehe...

Man, I've been looking for that gen SV650 for a year now, everyone wants $3,000 or up unless it's a beat to hell stunt bike or has no title. In Texas title is critical; it's actually illegal to offer for sale a vehicle for which you don't have a transferable title. Last one I looked at was a storage unit victim, stored with pool chemicals. Everything was eaten up with rust inside and out, including the tank. Only wanted $1,750 for it and wouldn't budge off that price. Sigh...

Good looking bike there at a great price!

So how many bikes do you have now? Do you own any cars at all?

10 motorized two-wheel vehicles in the garage, I've got my 1990 Mazda 323 hatchback that has over 260k mi. and a 98 Mazda pickup with little over 115k mi.

I was just thinking that you are due for another one. Clean bike too!

Very clean, PO was meticulous about every little detail on the bike. I rushed to see the bike before the hurricane just within few hours of the ad on local Craigslist. Snatched it up as soon as I saw the garage of PO and the amount of spare parts and maintenance records that comes with the Nighthawk. Sometimes, you have to act fast to get the deals.

how old are you, "A"?

Old enough to drink legally back in the 90's.. why do you ask?

Also I just realized you had a Lightweight Deep Carbon wheel there in your very first picture. How do you like those wheels?

Good eye, I had those back in the late 90's, plowed the front wheel into a SUV that crossed double yellow line to turn from opposite side of the road at 30+ mph.. busted wheel, now it serves as momento:

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff232/tc2wheel/PICT0113-1.jpg

cracked titanium frame, but the 1" carbon fork survived:

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff232/tc2wheel/PICT0112-1.jpg

The Lightweight wheels were great, a bit un-nerving in long descents.
The lack of rotational mass is really noticable once you stop pedaling, they slow down just as quick as they can accelerate.. if not faster.

Clear title, clean bike.. I'm the third owner now, 1st owner had many Beamers; this one didn't get ridden much.
2nd owner has 2 small children, not much of time to ride and moving onto vintage Honda for 2-wheel.

Bike even cames with cases.. got it out in the daylight to take some decent pics.:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/cat0020/12%202011/IMG_5069.jpg

Engine output doesn't feel as powerful as my previous R1150RS, but seems to rev up quicker.

Alot more vibration than I remembered of my R1150RS, too.
Sitting at traffic light I can see the whole instument panel shaking like a Harley.

Got to take a weight mesurement, with cases and about 25 lb. of stuff in them, the bike weighs in at 560 lb., dude standing be the window is outside of the scale area:

And my wife complains about 4 in the garage. We'll not to bad, she mostly complains about the gas smell when one starts to leak.

I really miss my blackbird.

My wife only complains when i walk into the house smelling like gasoline, then i just head out for another ride to air-out the smell, the Blackbird does the job quicker than others.

Is this Chester Springs?

Yes, very close, lots of horse farms in the area with winding rolling country roads, little LEO enforcement, very entertaining riding area.

Latest addition to the garage.. replaced the old 1976 Honda engine with a 140cc Chinese unit. Still trying to find an optimal placement for the oil cooler.

Adding another two-up ride, 2007 Burgman 650, 8k miles on odometer, sat outdoors for a couple of years, cosmetically kinda rough.

Needed new battery/tires/fluids/brake pads.. of course gone darkside when replace the rear tire:

Fantastic commuter scoot.

No nearly as nimble as Ninja 250, but the twist-n-go is nice for tight traffic pattern... just not the weight.
The weight (600 lb.) of the scoot is cumbersome when maneuvering by human strength; but under its own power it can outperform most 2-wheel vehicle with higher placement of engine transmission in cornering.

Enough underseat storage for two full face helmet, no need for extra external luggage. It's designated as a 2-up ride for the extra stuff that my passenger need to have along with the ride.

I am jealous A, you got a nice collection going with a well rounded rotation.

Thanks.. I like variety, no particular rotation of vehicle, just what I find suitable for particular purpose.

Picked me up another 06 CBR600F4i this past weekend, 4k miles on odometer, minor body damage, unmolested with only a slip-on exhaust.

$2k cash, since I was the first person to show up with payment in hand and seller was desperate for $$.

I'll probably just turn it for profit in a few weeks.

Sold my 99 Katana 750 this weekend. Bought it for $1600 back in 2013 at 9k miles, sold for $2200 w/16k miles.
No garage queen but rock solid bike.. heavy, too.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/cat0020/Motorcycling/99%20Katana%20750/IMG_6774_zpsdfd92bee.jpg
I will miss it once in a while.. like many of my bikes, it needed very little care: fuel, lube and go.
Performance of the 750cc air-oil cooled engine is just fine for the streets in capable hands.
If I find another one in decent shape and low price, probably will buy again.

Gear driven cams and V4..

Once you put your legs over the bike, you can't even see much of the bike..

Here are some better pic of my last VFR over 10 years ago:

I'm no master mechanic, but when I take apart something, I keep track of which bolt came from where.. at least put everything that came off the bike back on. Missing bolts just indicate that someone didn't pay attention.

I sold my 04 Ninja 250 to a friend for his son to start riding motorcycle, the Honda 599 will be a replacement commuter for NYC metro.

Hard to beat a pre-gen Ninja for filtering thru gridlock traffic at walking pace, I will see how well this inline-4 holds up after a months.

You need to line them up from yellowest to blackest. Or if you just park the CBR between the VFR and the Blackbird it would look like the two big bikes gave birth to the CBR.

Scooters I have are not 100% Hondas, with exception of the 82 Honda C70, the other two: one is a Chinese clone of Honda Reflex/Helix, the other is only a 77 Honda C90 body with a Chinese 125cc pitbike engine.
